Middle Earth

My child had such a horrible experience while at green holly. He started kindergarten there and did amazing we loved his teacher he was always happy then half way through the year a new teacher came in an they switched him to her and it went downhill fast. Come to first grade his teacher from the start saw him as a bad kid and treated him as such. I got calls where she yelled at me to fix his behavior in front of him and the class, I'd fix her not him. Got threats they would hold him back. He got denied recess almost daily for what she said was lack of him doing work even though he wasn't being distracting to others. she would deny him treats for the class she'd bring in, worse was when she gave students a treat with peanuts during class knowing he has a serve allergy to peanuts I have pulled him from school and had him evaluated and he has tested 2 grades higher than he was in and is happy and doing so well now.

We moved to the area this year and my daughter was only in the school for one year the academics considerably behind. She was often relearned things she had learned last year. We also dealt with bullying. Students calling her fat and even one incident where a student told her that she should kill herself for being Jewish. When my husband and I went to the school we were met with resistance by the principal and vice president because the student had been in there since kindergarten and not been in trouble. The incident was brushed off. They stated until they could prove what she said happened truly happened nothing could be done. Even after the student admitted to saying these things there was no punishment for the student who told her she should kill herself. I hope no child ever has to hear these horrible things at such a tender age. I am very dissatisfied with the way this was dealt with.

The staff and teachers are very personable and care very much for all the students. My oldest attended 4th and 5th grades and was well prepared for middle school, academically and socially. My younger attended 1st to 3rd grade and enjoyed all his teachers. The PTA does many things for the students and families. There is a solid feel between the school and the community. We are glad we had the opportunity to be part of the Town Creek family!

I have had two children at Starmaker. They full-time teachers are awesome and caring and there is a great mix of education and play. My children love the outdoor learning. The only negative is that there can be some turn-over with the support teachers.
