The GreatSchools rankings need to be taken with a grain of salt sometimes. Our son attended K-5 at Phelps Luck, after spending two years of PreK at Waterloo. I am so glad we lived in the Phelps Luck neighborhood. The school is extremely diverse, but the teachers are incredibly caring and build a wonderful culture of respect and empathy among the students. Our son was challenged and allowed to excel at math, and we found that on the whole they were very good about providing an education that challenged all students, while recognizing that in some cases there were learning challenges, external stresses (family moving frequently, etc), or other issues. One of the most striking things to me is how they provided the opportunities for each student to find something they love. Whether it is chorus, orchestra, band, or art, they allowed students to find an outlet beyond academic, where they could excel. Though our son is now in middle school, we will do whatever we can to keep supporting PLES as local residents.

They lack diversity and integrity. Every review that isn’t appealing is always deleted. It’s all wrong.

After two years at this school, I am updating my review to acknowledge the positive experience this has been. My child has grown in social-emotional development; learning the expectations of the classroom; excelling at academics; and connecting with teachers and fellow classmates. The school has also evaluated my child well and the curriculum and delivery of instruction match the needs and present levels of performance. I feel good about my child going here.

Bellows Spring has the most disorganized and ineffective special education program. It lacks structure, adequate staffing and resources to implement IEPs. If you have a special needs child with an IEP, I would not recommend Bellows Spring.

Deep Run Elementary school is a really new and beautiful school!

We have two children at this school and we are very happy with it. There are lot of siblings attending this school which proves the trust of the parents.The teachers are all Montessori trained and have a passion for the Montessori education, when we toured the school, the calm/quiet, clean and beautifully set up environment was a big point for us, the classrooms are beautifully set up with plenty of material for the students. We were not looking for the traditionally loud and over stimulating preschool type and Love of Learning had what we were looking for, the peaceful, clean, what tells like home type of school. Our oldest is now attending elementary there and we plan to continue to Middle school in this school as long as we're still in the area.The school is family run and they take their responsibilty towards their community of parents very seriously. I would highly recommend this school
