My daughter's experience was great. I appreciate the hard work of the former principal and I am excited about Principal Pinkney and the work he is doing at Roland Park.

Having two lower school students since pre-primary, we have been very happy with the school, extended day program, extracurriculars, and camp (Summer at Friends)! We especially appreciate the supportive nature of the teachers and staff - students are encouraged to collaborate and focus on executive functioning over competition and test scores. Our students enjoy many of the lower school after-school clubs, which focus on music, art, and outdoor time. The school has a wonderful art program and in-school and after-school music program, with opportunities for many instruments and solo/group music programs.

If your son has any sort of learning difference (or potentially develops one as the years go on), Gilman is a disaster. Learning support is almost nonexistent and the school makes little effort in that regard, regularly changing its policies to make assistance even more difficult to receive. Given the prevalence of ADHD and other learning issues in the community at large, I cannot recommend this school.
