Please don’t place your child at this school. My experience has been very disappointing. My daughter suffers from anxiety and told me she did not feel safe returning after an incident. I previously submitted documentation explaining her diagnoses, but I was told it had not been reviewed. When I came to the school to address my concerns, I felt dismissed instead of supported. The communication, professionalism, and compassion from the school’s leadership need serious improvement.

If your child has any special needs, this is not the school for them. My son has ASD and he was labeled as a bad child. They would call me saying he was crying at least 3 times weekly, while never explaining how they were treating him poorly. I wouldn't send a dog to this school. The staff members are very unprofessional. The principal backs his staff even if they are wrong.

Hazelwood Elementary/Middle School is truly an outstanding school for students. The staff works tirelessly to ensure that every child develops the skills needed to perform at and beyond grade level. In addition to strong academic instruction, Hazelwood offers a variety of after-school programs designed to strengthen student learning and provide enriching experiences.Students have opportunities to participate in robotics, dance, cheerleading, theater, basketball, soccer, flag football, and many other activities that help them grow both academically and socially.The arts program continues to shine at Hazelwood. Highly concerned about the educators who teach and question their credentials. The school has a very safe environment with no support from leadership as they behave in a very unprofessional manner. When expressing concerns to the principal and assistant principal met with unprofessionalism that had to be reported to North Ave . Children are bullied daily and teachers give NO SUPPORT for educational assistance and refer you to go online for your child to get info for they don’t have time . Very disappointed and horrible experience the one yr. there.

Teachers here seem to think its a fashion show :) on the other side I had good experiences with my child teacher although for some reason I didn't meet all of them just the 1st teacher they see through the day .I do feel they share to many things with there students such as pregnancy related things I understand the excitement but some things I do not want my child to start wanting to be more curious about before the maturity is set in also such as what they do on there personal time etc while I do see that they trying to build a relationship with the students what about the parents because they are the one trusting you with there children during the day I only met one teacher out of 4/5 .I do take some accountability for missing back to school night but I'm sure I wasn't the only parent to do so I attended parent chaperone training's and still only met one . During bad weather they take a little long making it safe for the children to enter safely though I did see pictures on dojo they would show them in front of it during some removal. Did'nt receive much help with children mental health services not sure if this the only school that doesn't but the prior school my child attended was giving help with community resources etc..
