"Dog owners would love it because everyone is friendly. Kids every where and very welcoming. And it’s not an urban area where there’s cars every where "

"this area is a cool alternative to the suburbs, and has alot of sunurby feel. still neighbors keep to themselves for the most part, and lots are pretty tight with big houses."

"Every summer we have block parties and gives us all an opportunity to meet neighbors. Garfield Ridge is primarily city workers, law enforcement and firefighters."

"It’s a family area with blue collar people. It’s Chicago but has all the feels of a suburb. You have to live here to understand. "

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWent to school there. terrible principal she was and still is rude and condescending she definitely needs to be fired, told my family that my IEP and 504 was fake and that i didn’t need one let alone never used it when i got one (which schools are legally required to follow an IEP) had a therapist and psychiatrist come in to tell them that i definitely needed certain requirements and still never cared, a few rude teachers and translators that were there, had one teacher tell my mother that my family needed counseling and i was faking everything. the way they would talk to students should be talked about more. will never send my kids here and will always advocate how terrible this school really is.Other Review1y ago12 Reviews - Twain Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHonestly, I have been going to Mark Twain school since I was in 3rd and let me just say, the teachers there do not care about their students enough. From 3rd to 6th grade, they aren’t so strict about what you do and won’t really care what happens. But seventh and eighth grade, they treat you horribly. Currently, I’m in 7th grade and for the past few months I’ve been in school, it’s been hard. There’s test twice a week or more and I know it’s an import year since it determines what high school you go to, but they treat it like it’s a holy grail. Fail a test once? Your grade goes down to a 20%. Get an a,axing 94% on an exam? Your grade goes up like 0.5 of a point. The grading sucks, the teachers are so sassy and rude, the kids are especially nasty from the attitudes they’re surrounded with, and overall I wouldn’t go to this school UNLESS it is the only nearest school, or you want to teach your kid about the “real world” and even if you do that, your kids won’t really like you as much.Student Review4mo ago11 Reviews - St Jane De Chantal School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've had both of my kids in Pre-K, Kindergarten and now 1st grade and they are always happy to be going to school, they love their teachers and I have not had any major issues. Glad that Mrs. Gross, was let go, she was the worst principle...not sure why the school hired her in the first place. Hopefully, the new principal, will bring a lot more positive results to the school.Parent Review7y ago5 Reviews - Gloria Dei Lutheran School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has been attending Gloria Dei for the last five years and we are very pleased. We have one graduate, who is doing extremely well and was more than prepared for high school. The class sizes are small and there's a lot of individual attention for the students. The teachers are there because of their love of teaching and their desire to spread Christ's love to their students. The sports programs are small, but they do offer basketball, track and field and bowling. We are very happy with Gloria Dei and welcome new families!Parent Review9y ago7 Reviews
