4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI sent my son to Norton Elementary for Kindergarten and withdrew him from Norton by 1st grade. The teachers and administration here lack professionalism and are a direct reflection of why the school's proficiency scores are extremely low. The scores are a direct reflection of the teachers and administrators abilities and not so much just about the students. The students do not have good leadership and therefore will not perform at there true potential. My son was performing way above grade level prior to bringing him to Norton and he was accepted into the gifted program. Even though here was accepted into gifted, I continued to homeschool him while he was attending Norton as they were not able to keep him at the level he was. So essentially he was only going to the school to learn social skills and not so much for academic purposes. I made the decision to withdraw him after assessing the school and concluding that they lack all the necessary attributes to foster children appropriately even for that child to learn the proper social skills. The students do not have good examples walking the halls. While my son attended Norton I witnessed inappropriate handling of simple situations too many times to count from both teachers and administrators. I also witnessed the administrators coming to school like they rolled out of bed or dressed inappropriately. They did not articulate well and are in the halls talking about your child for visitors and strangers to hear. Inappropriate all around. I also witnessed them almost placing my son in the wrong car at the pickup line while my 5 year old son is telling them this is not my mommy. I was mortified and they laughed it off. I witnessed this additional times with other children. There were countless situations that were concerning. Safety is not taken seriously here at all and was a concern of mine almost daily at this school.I offered as many chances to a school that I could give before making the ultimate decision to withdraw him. In doing so, I joined a homeschool community and found that so many have done the same for these very reasons. My son is excelling and so much happier. I would not recommend Norton Elementary.Parent Review2w ago24 Reviews - Shiloh Elementary School
