We have two children at OHDS, and have been there for three years. We could not be happier with our experience so far. It's a very special community where everyone genuinely lifts each other up. The school leadership is compassionate, competent, and responsive. The teachers are invested in the students' success and make classroom life enjoyable. Despite being a small school there is no shortage of resources and differentiation available to ensure each child thrives. The Jewish education is not just enrichment but deeply woven into their daily lives, so that the kids learn a great deal of about what it means to be Jewish, but more importantly live out the best of Jewish values.Obviously a religious Jewish day school is not for everybody, but if that's something even loosely of interest, I strongly recommend considering OHDS. Our kids look forward to school every morning, and we get to see their intellectual and spiritual development every evening.

Saklan excels at getting through to students and inspiring their love of learning with small class sizes, social-emotional learning and especially their project-based learning approach. I have two kids who have loved going to Saklan every day for 5 years now and even ask to stay for the after school care because they aren't ready to leave.Strongly recommended for all students but especially those who don't feel challenged or inspired by learning.
