"Very active Halloween- everyone in town floods our neighborhood. Great recreation area- dog walkers, family bike rides, very close/great access to the Bay Trail. Once a year we’ve had Food trucks on Bayfront, just a block away. We used to have a multicultural festival first week d of June and Fireworks co-hosted by Hercules and Pinole."

"There are several places to take your dog to for walks around Hercules and there is a dog park across from Home Depot and Home Depot is pet-friendly as well."

"Commute is bad when rush hour! Have to leave early to avoid bad traffic! A cop likes to check on early commuters at one stop sign by 5:35am! If you do not stop completely by the stop sign where is still residential , you will get a ticket! The cop is always hiding by the stop sign to catch you! "
  • Mindy N.
"Family oriented... have raised our two daughters in this town and have lived here for 32 years. I used to work the City of Hercules as the Special Event Coordinator creating community events, it was a great job... "
  • Barma81
"None. This neighborhood reminds me of a commuter school. Not that I’m complaining but I have nothing in common with my neighbors age/profession/income/interests. Only benefit is it’s close to the city and easy fwy access. "
  • Charles S.
"The Refugio Valley path is approximately 3 miles long, has a beautiful scenic area with trees and is dog-friendly."

"Commute to San Francisco is long with a lot of traffic. But I usually drive to a Bart station to go to SF."
  • Tchukon S.

    "Nice affordable community."

"It's a pretty place to live and very quite unless your neighbor has a barking dog. Then you need to get the HOA and Humane Society involved and it does take time before anything is resolved. Hercules has no industry except a Luckys, Home Depot, Wells Fargo, Post Office, library and various other smaller shops. You'll need to drive to Richmond (10 minute drive) for the closest Target and movie theatre. Or you can drive out to Concord/Walnut Creek. If you are single, unless you perfer to stay in most of the time, this is NOT an area you want to live in. If you don't mind driving or BARTing to SF every weekend then you'll be okay. Overall, I do like it because it is quite and clean but I seriously miss SF. I am 55 and single and it's the arts I miss the most as well as being able to walk rather than drive where I want to go."
  • Nancy M.
"I am retired but commuted to San Francisco for 22 years from this location. The transportation to San Francisco is excellent especially since Hercules added the Lynx bus which goes none stop to San Francisco. There is also a transit center with buses to BART. There are two parks within the facility with walking paths and a fenced swimming pool. This is a one owner home in a quiet bedroom community. "
