"Piedmont Pines is a wonderful neighborhood. There is lots of wildlife, trees, and access to hiking trails. There is good freeway access for commuting. The neighbors are friendly and welcoming. Neighbors really care about one another. There is a great sense of community including annual get-togethers. There are plenty of stores for easy shopping in Montclair. There is also a good variety of nearby restaurants to choose from. "

"Annual night outs for neighbors. A very proactive neighborhood association, Piedmont Pines Neighborhood Association, that addresses local issues. "

"I don’t have a dog. People walk their dog in the neighborhood. Lots of bikers in the area. I think it is safe to have a dog here"

"I like to take walks in my neighborhood. There is a park where you can go and feel like you are not in a city."

"Access to hiking trails is unparalleled but there are no sidewalks. Not a deal breaker but not fantastic with small kids. People do get out and walk but there isn’t a particularly neighborly feeling. "

"There are plenty of carpoolers in Montclair for casual carpool. Easy drive to downtown Oakland. 30-45 mins in the am to SF."

"I have lived here before and wish to return after 20 years. I love open space and quiet. I have been a home owner all my life and now wish to rent ."

"Wonderful place to retreat from the busy city. If you want your kids to grow up with nature this is the place. "

"I just moved to this neighborhood. It's definitely more suburban than what I'm used to. It's fun having tons of wildlife around - deer, foxes, and a family of wild turkeys. Plus there is great access to nature at Redwood Regional Park. There aren't any amenities within walking distance aside from a trailhead."

"Great neighbors & lots of outdoor space. Happily living here for over a year. Lots of families with young kids moving into the area."
  • Malcolmkegel
"I’ve lived here for 16 years it’s quiet and beautiful, my neighbors are friendly and we look out for one another. Many homes in this area have gorgeous views of the bay."
  • Jackie C.
"Great neighborhood not too far into the hills so convenient for both the parks and Montclair village and easy commute. Also less fog than way up in the hills.More walkable than walkability score would have you believe. Walk to Monclair and Woodminster shops are possible and bus to BART. Good sense of community"
