My son attended Richland Avenue Elementary School for Kindergarten and part of 1st grade before moving out-of-state. As a bilingual family (French + English) we were happy to find a public bilingual charter school near the area. The facilities are great, the teachers and staff are friendly and kind to the children, and for the most part my son had a great time.I think the bilingual program could be improved. It starts with a French teacher and an English teacher essentially splitting the time. In our case, our son was already bilingual, but for children learning French for the first time, more time spent learning French at first is a better-functioning immersion program.His French Kindergarten teacher Madame Kort was nice, but she is not a good speaker of the French language. Her classes seemed to be more chaotic while the English teacher was more effective at teaching children of this age.The French teacher in 1st grade was fantastic! Madame Elodie was a true french speaker who knew how to teach the kids. Our son excelled more in 1st grade than Kindergarten, so I guess that's the tradeoff...every year you never know what you're gonna get.Other than that, the class food is disgusting and the city of LA should make more of an effort to teach kids the importance of healthy eating. Aside from those complaints, our son had a great time and made many friends. We miss our Richland family!

We’ve been part of Walgrove Elementary for 10 years now, with both of our daughters starting in the TK program - six years apart. From the very beginning, this school has been a great experience for our family.What we love most is the strong sense of community. Families, teachers, and staff work together in such a supportive way that you feel connected and involved. Both of our children have thrived here not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.The teachers are dedicated, caring, and truly invested in their students’ success. They go above and beyond to meet kids where they are and to inspire a love of learning. The administration has also been fantastic - approachable, responsive, and always focused on what’s best for the students.After a decade here, we can confidently say that this school is truly special. We’re so grateful to have had such a positive experience, and we couldn’t imagine a better place for our daughters to grow and learn.

Beethoven has been a dream schoolFor our family. Lead by the amazing Mrs. Fields every teacher and staff member is smart, interesting, evolved, progressive, kind, and supportive. My kids choose school over spending a day at home. They are confident learners and compassionate wonderful people which only happens when they get encouragement and guidance from both parents AND teachers/school. Beethoven is 50% responsible for my kids being so fabulous! I am beyond grateful to be a parent at this magical neighborhood school.

If your child has level 3 autism or severe downs syndrome I wouldn't recommend attending this school. The lower tier staff that down talk your child will be the same ones to write reports and spread misinformation regarding your children. God forbid your child has a serious episode they'll make it seem your child is a threat to peoples lives and society. certain staff just want students that are easy to minipulate and mold to their liking. They think taking military complex route will help but then again those staff will never make it passed working elementary level. If they cant handle little kids they need to retire early. habitación veintiocho

We have had a wonderful experience at this school. We were lucky enough to transfer in and our daughter has really thrived attending this school. The families are very involved and supportive, which makes all the difference in the world. They have a number of enrichment programs which are completely funded through fundraising from the parent and community organizations. She has enjoyed learning and most days comes home with a big smile on her face. The principal runs a tight ship (thankfully) and we are grateful to have someone who will go to bat for her school. The teachers we have had have been caring, patient, and a positive influence. Our only knock is we wish there was a little homework! Not that she needs hours, but a nice 10-20 assignment would be nice every day!
