What Locals Say about Topanga

  • Trulia User
"It all depends on the traffic I generally commute to Conejo Valley so there is less traffic heading out North. Getting up and down the mountain can be challenging when they are doing road work and or have closures. "
  • Stefan Nowicki
"You see folks walking dogs everywhere. Lots of great nature walks! Dogs are welcome in shops and restaurants. There’s a great vet here."
  • Phoenix
"Manzanita school, the community, and the magical nature in every direction create the perfect setting for raising children"
  • Claire C.
"Topanga is a very dog friendly town with a lot of on-leash beautiful hiking trails. Dogs might benefit from rattlesnake training and can get burrs or foxtails stuck in their long fur. They are great deterrents for coyote and deer. "
  • Hmcpherson2356
"Everyone is friendly in this tight-knit community. Topanga preserves its bohemian origins while also welcoming visitors. "
  • Larry C.
"Topanga is.....special. Great community with great local restaurants like the Canyon Bistro & Wine Bar. They have live music every Friday night."
  • Sunshine T.
"That topanga is a very tight community based on fundamental morals and ethics that are a good foundation for family and children "
  • Jason B.
"A long drive to Silverlake. Traffic is the worst from 8:30 - 9:30 am. Topanga is the best place to live on the west coast. A nature feeling, nice people and great surfing. We can use another restaurant and a place for the community to gather."
  • schneidy clan
"Topanga is beautiful. The people are friendly and the public elementary school is wonderful. There is a great sense of community and almost everyone knows each other. There is hiking, outdoor theatre; a community center; one salon; shops; a gourmet store and a few restaurants and cafes. There are art classes; horseback riding and a lot more. The one downside is driving up and down the canyon about 10-15 minutes in each direction either pch side or valley side."
  • Monica
"Great neighborhood for families and children. Lots of ongoing community events and best ever elementary school!"
  • Stone D.
"I’m not a dog owner. But if I was, I’d be thrilled to be able to take my pooch out for amazing daily exercise on the hiking paths throughout the Santa Monica mountains - and largely off-leash too. Eat yer heart out Runyon Canyon or the westside Beaches!"
  • Marnieherald
"It’s an escape from the hectic parts of LA proper. More space- lots of room for a garden and my dogs and parking "
  • Akira C.
"There seem to be many families and kid of all ages but no immediate parks or recreational areas. thanks "
  • Roland C.
"It’s an oasis in the city. Nature, wildlife and a chill vibe amongst the community. 15 minutes to the beach"
  • Modefy

  • Anne C. v. W.
"Great area to live. close to Civilisation but in the middle of Nature. The community is very ecolologically aware, and dedicated to their children. Many civic organizations to be involved with, if you wish... Also, Topanga Library, Community House, Shakespearian outdoor theater, local restaurants, yoga studio, and gourmet food store."
  • sahajadouglass
"If you love nature and spectacular views, safe neighborhoods, clean air and a wonderful community, Topanga Canyon is the place for you. Hillside Drive on the Mesa is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Topanga Canyon with estates and horse ranches."
  • Katharine T.
"Expensive, beautiful, safe and unique. Have lived here for 45 years."
  • Shelly P.
"Topanga is an incredible village to live in. If you must be in Los Angeles for business or family, you cannot find a quieter, safer and more beautiful place to live. There is hiking, cycling, State parklands, many community groups, shopping, restaurants and the beach within a 10 minute drive, what more could you ask for?"
