"I grew up here with my grandparents. I have always felt at home here and I wish I could return to live here once more. But it's just way too expensive it saddens me to the core that I can't afford to live where I grew up. "

"In traffic, the commute is 5 minutes to my office DTLA. And access to the 110, 5, and 101 is a breeze. "

"Not kid-friendly unless you grew up here and understand the dynamics of life for families in Los Angeles as a general thought. "

"People walk their dogs in the neighborhood all the time, but there are coyotes and skunks to be on the lookout for."

"it's pretty dog friendly, with plenty of park near by. echo park lake and Elysian pack are great spots to take your pup. they're both spacious with benefits to both. Elysian has many trails to discover and echo park lake has a great picnic spot to bring your dog. "

"Sidewalks everywhere so there are tons of dog owners out and about. No real off leash park close by however. "

"Echo park is pretty safe and family friendly. Great for young single families. Very diverse community even though that was caused mostly by gentrification. Overall wonderful food and coffee shops walking and driving distance. My small family loves living here. "

"The hills are a bit rough, and like most of LA, parks are limited. I feel bad for dogs here, especially the larger breeds. They belong in nature."

"Bus stop right at the corner. You can go east 5 minutes and you are downtown or you can go west 20minutes and you’re in Hollywood."

"A lot of people have dogs here and there’s easy access to Elysian park on my street so lots of hiking. Not a lot of dedicated dog parks, though. "

"Echo park is great things are starting to get oversaturated and the streets do tend to be dirty and filled with trash at times. Echo park lake is somewhat clean."

"Most places are dog friendly and most people have their dogs on leash. Elysian park is nice to be able to let them off leash for a bit."

"Echo Park might be the last egalitarian neighborhood in LA. Working class, hipsters, artists, professionals, Latinos, Caucasians, Asians, African Americans, Gay, Straight, dog lovers, kids, old, young.. I see all of them every day here. Echo Park is funky, artsy and a little rough around the edges. And what other LA neighborhood has TWO great parks (Echo Park Lake & Elysian Park).."

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s really a hidden gem in Echo Park. Our two kids have attended since TK. The teachers are great. The parents are really engaged. It’s such a small school that everyone knows everyone. And the new Principal Montoya is a godsend and has really whipped the entire school into shape. If you can overlook all of the concrete it feels like a private school experience. Free meals and free after school care too!Parent Review6mo ago9 Reviews - Elysian Heights ES Arts Magnet

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWonderful and well-rounded school that truly cares about students, staff and families. Families are very engaged and adds to a deep close-knit community feel. The academics are robust and well thought through, with a focus on enhancing curiosity and real-world application. The arts programming is phenomenal and allows young students to find their artistic niche. Afterschool care and clubs are vibrant! Mr. Garza the principal is outstanding! Cannot recommend the school enough.Parent Review8mo ago17 Reviews - Logan Academy of Global Ecology

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has grown so much in the time I’ve been here. The student body is energetic, kind and curious about learning. They’ve faced a lot of challenges in the last two years and have responded above and beyond what I would have expected. Staff is dedicated and shows a genuine interest in their students well being beyond just academics. It’s the kind of environment you only get at a community school like Logan. I can’t wait to see how Logan continues to grow and expandParent Review7mo ago5 Reviews - Baxter Montessori School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe absolutely love Baxter! Both of our children attended, and it gave them the most incredible introduction to school. They learned how to play with others, play independently, and develop resilience and self-sufficiency. The teachers focus on the fundamentals of being a kind, capable human—pushing in chairs, helping with tasks, using an inside voice—while also encouraging collaboration and respect. The result is confident kids who know how to contribute thoughtfully in any setting. We love this community so much that our first child even skipped TK just to stay another year. Our second only went to TK so she could be with her brother!Baxter is refreshingly no-frills in the best way: no excessive emails, no apps with constant photos, no formal parent/teacher conferences. Instead, all essential information is shared clearly and promptly, and the teachers know the kids so well that feedback happens naturally—often during drop-off or pick-up. The families here are equally wonderful: genuine, grounded, and deeply invested in their children. It’s a community of truly amazing people. And of course, the heart of it all is Ms. Li, the legendary director who has been leading the school for nearly 40 years. Her vision sets the tone, but it’s every teacher’s care and commitment that make Baxter the extraordinary place it is.We feel extraordinarily lucky to have found this place. It will forever hold a spot in our hearts!Parent Review8mo ago10 Reviews - Golden West Christian School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does very little to teach and support students. Both my kids were behind academically and they were being bullied too. Teachers and staff did nothing to help the situation. Terrible school with teachers who pretend to care.Parent Review3mo ago27 Reviews
