Echo Park

It’s really a hidden gem in Echo Park. Our two kids have attended since TK. The teachers are great. The parents are really engaged. It’s such a small school that everyone knows everyone. And the new Principal Montoya is a godsend and has really whipped the entire school into shape. If you can overlook all of the concrete it feels like a private school experience. Free meals and free after school care too!

Wonderful and well-rounded school that truly cares about students, staff and families. Families are very engaged and adds to a deep close-knit community feel. The academics are robust and well thought through, with a focus on enhancing curiosity and real-world application. The arts programming is phenomenal and allows young students to find their artistic niche. Afterschool care and clubs are vibrant! Mr. Garza the principal is outstanding! Cannot recommend the school enough.

This school has grown so much in the time I’ve been here. The student body is energetic, kind and curious about learning. They’ve faced a lot of challenges in the last two years and have responded above and beyond what I would have expected. Staff is dedicated and shows a genuine interest in their students well being beyond just academics. It’s the kind of environment you only get at a community school like Logan. I can’t wait to see how Logan continues to grow and expand

We absolutely love Baxter! Both of our children attended, and it gave them the most incredible introduction to school. They learned how to play with others, play independently, and develop resilience and self-sufficiency. The teachers focus on the fundamentals of being a kind, capable human—pushing in chairs, helping with tasks, using an inside voice—while also encouraging collaboration and respect. The result is confident kids who know how to contribute thoughtfully in any setting.We love this community so much that our first child even skipped TK just to stay another year. Our second only went to TK so she could be with her brother!Baxter is refreshingly no-frills in the best way: no excessive emails, no apps with constant photos, no formal parent/teacher conferences. Instead, all essential information is shared clearly and promptly, and the teachers know the kids so well that feedback happens naturally—often during drop-off or pick-up. The families here are equally wonderful: genuine, grounded, and deeply invested in their children. It’s a community of truly amazing people.And of course, the heart of it all is Ms. Li, the legendary director who has been leading the school for nearly 40 years. Her vision sets the tone, but it’s every teacher’s care and commitment that make Baxter the extraordinary place it is.We feel extraordinarily lucky to have found this place. It will forever hold a spot in our hearts!

This school does very little to teach and support students. Both my kids were behind academically and they were being bullied too. Teachers and staff did nothing to help the situation. Terrible school with teachers who pretend to care.
