3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was emotionally abused by one of the first grade teachers at this school. Instead of addressing the problem the principal has chosen to ignore it and me. Ive been told by other students that this teacher is known for being very mean. It's unfortunate that the students such as my child have to endure such treatment.Parent Review4y ago9 Reviews - Forest Charter

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so grateful to have found Forest Charter, it is truly what education should feel like for both students and parents! No matter what our needs are, the school meets our children where they are rather than forcing them to change to meet the school where it is. Whether it has been learning differences that presented difficulties or excelling in certain areas and needing more challenging material, Forest Charter always had the heartbeat of what our two students needed. It is never a perfunctory conversation that is rushed at an Open House, but teachers and administrators are consistently initiating and receptive to dialogue about what students need. This is not done on an annual basis, but on a regular basis and based on what they are observing or what I as a parent broach for discussion. We make a plan together and then as students, they have buy in. Being part of the team, instead of being talked down to, really gives them an investment in their learning that has resulted in results that we never thought possible. Thank you, Forest Charter, for restoring the love of learning! Both our boys thank us regularly for finding them such an amazing school!Parent Review3y ago2 Reviews - Yuba River Charter School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA Parent’s Perspective on a Year of Failed Leadership at Yuba River Charter SchoolAs a parent, I send my child to school with the expectation that they will learn in a safe, respectful environment—supported by leaders who act with fairness, integrity, and good judgment. This past year has left me deeply concerned that these basic expectations are no longer being met at our school.Throughout the year, serious incidents of harassment and unprofessional behavior took place right in front of staff, parents, and even students. These were not isolated misunderstandings but part of a clear pattern that was brought to the attention of the school’s director multiple times. Each time, instead of stepping in to protect the well-being of staff and maintain a healthy school climate, he chose to look the other way.The inaction was not only disappointing—it was damaging. It signaled to the school community that unacceptable behavior could continue without consequences. Even when confrontations became more aggressive, and even when they disrupted school events, there was still no decisive intervention from the administration.Parents talk, and many of us have seen or heard about similar failures in the past. The message we take from this is troubling: that leadership is willing to protect certain individuals rather than uphold consistent standards for everyone. This kind of favoritism erodes trust and sends the wrong example to our children. Now, trust in the school’s leadership has been badly shaken. The sense of safety and unity that once defined our school community has been replaced with doubt and frustration. The recent posting for a new co-director role may suggest the governing board recognizes there’s a problem—but for many parents, that acknowledgment feels long overdue. In my view, this was not simply a year with a few mistakes. It was a year in which the director’s poor judgment and unwillingness to address serious problems undermined the very values our school is supposed to stand for. As a parent, I want better for my child—and for every child who walks through these doors.Parent Review8mo ago15 Reviews - Deer Creek Elementary School

They have a carnival night around Halloween, a fantastic mini marathon and end of year parties where the kids go to the pool.Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Seven Hills Intermediate School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children love attending 7 Hills. We find the staff to be friendly, supportive and focused on helping students achieve and do their best. I personally love the extracurricular programs: bike shop, band, wood shop, STEM, creative writing etc. . The opportunities available in this small town are amazing.Parent Review2y ago7 Reviews - Lyman Gilmore Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are very happy with our experience at Grass Valley Charter. The community is wonderful and we love the staff and families here. I'm a big fan of the expeditionary learning model that gets them out of the classroom doing some really amazing things. Our kids are thriving and we highly recommend it.Parent Review4mo ago7 Reviews - Margaret G. Scotten Elementary School
