Since our arrival, my son has asked to come home every single day (according to his teachers) because of stomach aches. They're aware of the bullying that takes place, but make few, if any, accommodations to make sure that all the children get the tools they need to navigate their relationships better. Our previous school had a socio-emotional curriculum that helped students to work through their peer problems in individual and small group formats, so that teachers could focus on teaching. At Jefferson, there are no such supports for children or teachers. There doesn't seem to be a whole-child framework for instruction. The focus seems to be on getting children to attend daily, which given the provided atmosphere, I'm not surprised that they have attendance issues. My child has absolutely nothing to look forward to when attending school, just harassment by his peers, and teachers and staff that don't take the issue seriously enough to not partner children with those who are bullying them.Another thing that really bothers me is that parents are not allowed on campus until after the final bell rings. We came from a much larger city where parents were encouraged to participate in their children's classrooms and there were programs established to facilitate that experience. We would all wait outside our children's classrooms for up to 15 minutes before the bell would ring, fostering relationship amongst parents as well. I do not feel welcomed on the campus, both by the school policies and their office staff.Parent Review1y ago9 Reviews - Washington School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo, I am a student from this school and I hate it. Learning here is not fun at all, the teachers are just so rude, make learning not fun at all! Teaching is OK, I say this because the teachers are rude but they do make you get some stuff done. For the social emotional support I can not say how much I hate it. You just want to have a calm converstation with whoever wants to listen to your problems, they just dont. They are practically sleeping. They dont care at all. For special education I put a 4 because they really do care about the disabed kids which I love about this school .If you have a diaabled kid, I recommed coming to this school. For safety I put 2 because people we have had many people who get into fights for fun, yes for fun! I put 4 stars for the family engagement because they welcome everybody. Overall, I do not recommend this school..Other Review2y ago3 Reviews
