"There are lots of dogs in all of Alameda. That could be considered good or bad, depending on your dog. "

"One of the safest and most convenient places in the Bay Area. I don’t have children but there are lots of school aged children in the neighborhood. Many options for sports facilities and being active outdoors. "

"It’s a nice quiet neighborhood. Families outside, kids walking, riding bikes, water balloon fights and table tennis are regularly enjoyed. I moved here from the city - it’s definitely slower - shuts down early but a lovely place to call home - seemingly a lone star born from the idyllic American towns of yesteryear. "

"I see families walking their pets and going to parks. The side streets are usually blocked off for ‘safe streets’ but any main road will be busy with cars speeding by. "

"The nearest dog park is not well maintained. The grass is always dead and dog owners don’t always clean after their dog. "

"Lots of friendly owners and dogs. Not many options for housing if you have a dog or pet. Some owners can be pretentious. Dog friendly stores, restaurants, and spaces. Good options for dog daycare."

"Everyone is so friendly all the time, not just for a specific event. We all pass out candy at Halloween, decorate the house for Christmas, Diwali, Pride, 4th of July. It’s a loving liberal community"

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in Kindergarten at AoA, and her class teacher, class helper, and Spanish class teacher are proactive, communicative and really care about the children in their class. The parent community is friendly, and the recently revived PTSA is run by some fantastic parents who are well organised. So happy to have found AoA. The other families I know who have children in both the elementary and middle school here love it.Parent Review2mo ago7 Reviews - Nea Community Learning Center

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids are enjoying NEA and are thriving both academically and emotionally. Their teachers are energetic, knowledgeable, and highly engaged. While the NEA campus isn’t architecturally impressive, it avoids the typical institutional indoor feel and offers a more welcoming environment. NEA also hosts many family events that help parents and kids build a strong sense of community. Overall, it’s been an excellent elementary school experience so far.Parent Review5mo ago52 Reviews
