What Locals Say about West End

Review Highlights

West End, Alameda: breezy, walkable island life with beaches, parks, and quick SF commutes. People love the safety, family vibe, beaches, parks, walkability, and ferry access. Drawbacks: early nightlife, peak-hour island traffic, speeding on arterials, shabby dog park.

"One of the safest and most convenient places in the Bay Area. I don’t have children but there are lots of school aged children in the neighborhood. Many options for sports facilities and being active outdoors. "

"It’s a nice quiet neighborhood. Families outside, kids walking, riding bikes, water balloon fights and table tennis are regularly enjoyed. I moved here from the city - it’s definitely slower - shuts down early but a lovely place to call home - seemingly a lone star born from the idyllic American towns of yesteryear. "

"I see families walking their pets and going to parks. The side streets are usually blocked off for ‘safe streets’ but any main road will be busy with cars speeding by. "
