i agree with the other review. the teachers are committed and the kids are mostly equal. the middle school is a good place to go before high school, as compared to other nearby middle schools, houston has a much more friendly and unbiased environment which has helped my child in high school. compared to children from other middle schools, most houston kids will be friendlier. although it always does depend on the child, at houston, you have a chance to have a few more safe years for the discrimination of high school sets in. and that, in the long run, will be a good thing.

My kids went to this school from preschool to 3rd ... I have three daughters ... I loved this school because of the staff principal Mr V preschool teacher Mrs bobrow and amazing teacher Mrs Keenan..... they were so dedicated. Just amazing people .The only thing is they are easy on the kids and don't push them to there full potential. I didn't realize til I moved them 6 hrs away to another school they struggled because the schools were harder over here. I am proud to say my kids are straight A students now ,but it took time ...anyway I think that could be something for the school to work on.

My daughter is always excited about what she is learning in class. It's amazing to see how well she reads, writes and speaks both languages. Not only are the academics great at Joe Serna, so is the community. We are like a big family.
