"it's a mix of older homes, with subdivisions being built. Most people keep to themselves and there aren't many children young enough to go trick or treating. Most people take excellent care of there dogs, occasionally one slips out of the fenced yard. Owner is normally out searching as soon as they realize it's out."

"Family orientated neighborhood with very good access to parks and sidewalk. Nice new homes that are pretty big and is very close to shopping centers on 51st Ave. and baseline. The new 202 freeway is nearby which allows access to other freeways. There’s a casino of 51st Ave. that is lit and lastly downtown Phoenix and Tempe is less than 15 miles away ."

"It is gated and has a great pond with ducks and geese. It is a nice, clean, safe community. The new freeway seems to have helped cut down on traffic. Most neighborhoods are new. There are also some horse properties that add so much character to this area."

"Laveen is a 47 sq mile area in South Phx (South Mountain) & has a horrible crime history. Please pull official crime stats from Phoenix Police. I've lived here for 6 yrs. It calmed down between 2015-2017 a bit, however, it now is a terrifying place to live. Over the last yr and half it has exploded with violent crime. Armed home invasions, armed carjacking in driveways & more. Don't move here if u have children. It also has some of the worst schools in Arizona. I'm escaping in the spring. "

"You would have to be insane to pay over $230k for ANYTHING in Laveen (47 mile area in South Phoenix) without massive acreage in this area. First, this was known gang territory for decades. There was an attempt to develop this area pre-crash, however, once the crash happened virtually all homes down here were turned into Section 8 or other low-cost rentals. Investors and realtors are driving up the costs down here (driven by California population influx) and it's not sustainable. Wages in Phx are not keeping pace at all. Moreover, the criminal element has never left. Pull crime stats report from Phoenix Police. Many areas originally slotted for re-development haven't been touched and are just drowning in crime and drugs adjacent to the newer communities. Sadly, I am seeing a lot of people who recently purchased down here with for sale signs in their yards less than a yr after purchasing down here. Laveen schools are some of the worst for Arizona. Laveen continues to be a dangerous place; the crime simply persists down here and this area is ripe for a housing market correction. Save yourself...look in Goodyear/Litchfield for the West Valley, Anthem for Phoenix proper, or Gilbert/Mesa East Valley for comparable pricing but much safer places for you and/or your family. "

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was a student at Desert Meadows from kindergarten through middle school. Sadly, we made the decision to leave because the school environment became more discouraging than supportive. Over the years, I’ve seen a lack of empathy from certain teachers and minimal support for students with behavioral or mental health challenges. Despite being a long-time student with diagnosed conditions, my daughter was unfairly evaluated during a recent activity and made to feel excluded — with no transparency or understanding from staff. This wasn’t a one-time issue, but part of a deeper culture problem. I truly hope the school leadership makes changes so other families don’t have to make the same difficult choice we did.Parent Review8mo ago27 Reviews - Bernard Black Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI conducted quite a bit of research before moving to this school district and have been pleasantly surprised by the support of the teachers, they actually care about their students and aim to teach individually at their level. Although I'm sure it's not easy with a full classroom of kids that have different learning styles. My children love coming to school every day and that's what makes it count!Parent Review7mo ago5 Reviews - Paseo Pointe Dual Language Academy
