We are a family of educators who have been in the district for a combined 36 years with friends and colleagues at nearly every school, and we would not even entertain the notion of sending our girls anywhere else. The 3/10 rating this site gives is absurd and borderline offensive. My sense is that the process by which they rate schools (read: standardized test scores) is just thinly veiled code for how white and wealthy the neighborhood's families are. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI graduated from this school, and unfortunately have had to watch it degrading over the years. I had to withdraw my student from the school before it literally destroyed his academic learning capabilities. From what I experienced the tenured staff, administration and counselors could not pass a psychological exam if it was required and are only there to instill political correctness in each of the students. More attention is provided and accommodations made for those students with issues than those without.For those parents looking for a good Sports program, this may not be your best choice. The school has gone down to a 5a school to accommodate its current coaching capabilities and poor sports achievements. If your child is the most important gift in the world, I would recommend investing additional effort into finding a better school, I have. "The large homeless population and alleyways that they make their home really set this neighborhood apart. Beware of drug needles while walking barefoot through the park. "

" Safety is the biggest issue here. It's not a good residential area. Too much construction for big-ticket items right now (NW Community Credit Union and soon a new high-rise student housing monster). Also, the chronic homeless have made camps in and around there. Needles and 211 beer cans everywhere. Not good for children, and ALWAYS keep doors locked. "
