Description

Rustic cabin-style home tucked into the wooded mountains of Murphy, NC on a private, elevated lot - a true as-is renovation opportunity ready for a buyer to finish to their own taste. Inside, vaulted knotty-pine ceilings run across an open living, dining, and kitchen area anchored by a gas fireplace, with big windows and French doors opening to a brand-new pressure-treated deck. The two-bedroom, two-bath layout includes a walk-in shower conversion underway, and the renovation is already started: a new water heater is installed and flooring is ready for your finish of choice. Remaining work includes paint, flooring, fascia, and finishing both baths - a great chance to add value. Well water, septic, and no HOA allow a full-time home, mountain getaway, or rental. Minutes from the Hiwassee River and Lake, Nantahala National Forest, and downtown Murphy, near the GA and TN state lines. Bring your vision and make this mountain cabin your own.

"Not sure but it seems like there are lots of places to take your dogs on leash. Although many of the roads have no shoulder"
  • Bigliz14
"Great place to live and raise a family . People are friendly and atmosphere in this town is fantastic "
  • Trulia User
"A little congested but roads are kept clean and safe in the winter the roads are well maintained. I would recommend living in Murphy "
  • Mary Obryan
"No this is a rural area with no public transportation. There is no need for it generally speaking. There is a community transport that will pick up people at their homes I believe."
  • Laurence Wood
"Good schools a growing town with opportunities for all! Every day is like vacation with all the amazing places to go to!"
  • Laurence Wood
"No traffic jams Service people are slow to come out but it’s part of the slower pace of life we enjoy "
  • Laurence Wood
"A fast growing town and you need to expect long drives for services and stores. Medical care is difficult to find close by. We love our town and get upset when new residents try to change our culture "
  • Barbara Ratterree
"Country living. People are private but willing to help others. Most homes around me are homesteads or farms. "
  • KatieB
"Most people don’t walk their dogs they let them run loose or keep them fenced, those who do walk their dogs are usually friendly and always say hello! "
  • Irving R.
"vehicle is a must have commodity to get around when you live out of the town city limits. Unless you like to walk or ride a bike. They're are few other drawbacks as well. Communicating by cell phone is not very good around the countryside, lacking cell towers. This is a problem, even trying to get on the internet. Somedays are better than others but still we have poor reception. Other than that we have the beautiful outdoors. We can enjoy going to the national forest for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing or just driving around the back roads and enjoy scenery as well as wildlife. Living outside the city's limit might have it's drawbacks but you take the good and the bad as it comes and make the best of it."
  • Kristyleew49
"Love Murphy! The people, the mountains, the town are all amazing! No attitudes, just good people looking out for each other!"
  • Michelle R.
"We just stay socialized with each other and van together when necessary. The kids are what keeps the community a whole. "
  • Michelle R.
"We all ban together and make it about the kids. Lots of summer fun. When problems arise within the community we solve together as a team until things are fixed. "
  • Mesa2617
"Live music at local pub and restaurants. Friendly staff is several local stores and restaurants. The town of Murphy felt really welcoming. "
  • Errol D.
"Very beautiful place to live and quiet, very kid friendly. I been here for some years really nicely place to be "
  • TiffanyTabor
"we need some really nice dog parks! People need to be more accountable for their dogs! There us no place to take to your dog where they can run, swim and play safely!"
  • Kimkoogler
"I've lived here for 7 years. I love every beautiful road. mountain views, lake views, great food. it's a beautiful place to live."
  • Pprzonek
"the beautiful mountain views, the wonderful change of the seasons. The small city feel and how nice the people are to each other"
  • Gloria Geringer
"I like it because it's quite. No lights outside, except for what's on the house and carport. What I don't like is everyone's dogs run free. I take mine out on a leash."
  • Cindyandchuck
"Concerts, yard sales, boat and golf cart parades, fireworks with live music. Tennis, pool and marina"
  • Bsfrazee
"Every one knows every one. People watch each others place when they are out of town or checks in on one another if your sick. I have vacationed here for a few years now staying with friends but now would love to own a piece of paradise !!!"
  • NolaR
"One Neighbor has a hostile dog. I don't feel safe walking by his house. There is still enough areas to walk your pet."
  • Jjoachiltz
"There is no leash law here so watch your children and your pets closely!! Our dog was attacked and killed by 2 dogs in our neighborhood. There was nothing we could do about it. "
  • Steve B.
"Murphy, NC is a small community with all the basics (yes, including Walmart). There is a lot to do or you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Winters are NOT harsh, however, you will need warm clothing. You can enjoy the wildlife from your back deck or walk the many trails throughout the county. Although Murphy will have a Casino come the Summer of 2015; it will have little impact on the quality of life."
  • Wendy B.
"It only mentions one high school but we have TCEC which is the best school in N.C.! Your kid will graduate with all honors AND an associates degree! Best place to raise a child EVER! Safe, peaceful place!"
  • Wendy B.
"I live here and think Murphy and surrounding areas are heaven on earth. Beautiful, friendly, amazing environment to raise your kids! 9th grade up offers TCEC, a small FREE high school that will have your child graduate with honors AND and Associates Degree! Loving teachers! "
