"Not sure but it seems like there are lots of places to take your dogs on leash. Although many of the roads have no shoulder"
  • Bigliz14

  • Mary Obryan
"No this is a rural area with no public transportation. There is no need for it generally speaking. There is a community transport that will pick up people at their homes I believe."
  • Laurence Wood
"Good schools a growing town with opportunities for all! Every day is like vacation with all the amazing places to go to!"
  • Laurence Wood
"No traffic jams Service people are slow to come out but it’s part of the slower pace of life we enjoy "
  • Laurence Wood
"A fast growing town and you need to expect long drives for services and stores. Medical care is difficult to find close by. We love our town and get upset when new residents try to change our culture "
  • Barbara Ratterree
"Country living. People are private but willing to help others. Most homes around me are homesteads or farms. "
  • KatieB
"Most people don’t walk their dogs they let them run loose or keep them fenced, those who do walk their dogs are usually friendly and always say hello! "
  • Irving R.
"vehicle is a must have commodity to get around when you live out of the town city limits. Unless you like to walk or ride a bike. They're are few other drawbacks as well. Communicating by cell phone is not very good around the countryside, lacking cell towers. This is a problem, even trying to get on the internet. Somedays are better than others but still we have poor reception. Other than that we have the beautiful outdoors. We can enjoy going to the national forest for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing or just driving around the back roads and enjoy scenery as well as wildlife. Living outside the city's limit might have it's drawbacks but you take the good and the bad as it comes and make the best of it."

"We just stay socialized with each other and van together when necessary. The kids are what keeps the community a whole. "
  • Michelle R.
"We all ban together and make it about the kids. Lots of summer fun. When problems arise within the community we solve together as a team until things are fixed. "

"I like it because it's quite. No lights outside, except for what's on the house and carport. What I don't like is everyone's dogs run free. I take mine out on a leash."
  • Cindyandchuck

  • Jjoachiltz
"There is no leash law here so watch your children and your pets closely!! Our dog was attacked and killed by 2 dogs in our neighborhood. There was nothing we could do about it. "
  • Steve B.
"Murphy, NC is a small community with all the basics (yes, including Walmart). There is a lot to do or you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Winters are NOT harsh, however, you will need warm clothing. You can enjoy the wildlife from your back deck or walk the many trails throughout the county. Although Murphy will have a Casino come the Summer of 2015; it will have little impact on the quality of life."
  • Wendy B.
"It only mentions one high school but we have TCEC which is the best school in N.C.! Your kid will graduate with all honors AND an associates degree! Best place to raise a child EVER! Safe, peaceful place!"
  • Wendy B.
