  • 9k8hkpk84h
"There’s A Lot Of Dog Owners In Our Neighborhood. The Walking Score Is Nice, Especially With A Lot Of Parks Around."
  • Trulia User
"Nothing they would think it’s great. They love people walking their dogs. I see it all the time especially to the old town park."
  • Denisse A.
"Easy access to 2 parks to walk dogs in. Alamo Square is the best because it was a large area meant for dogs alone. Overall, very dog friendly! "
  • Andrea B.
"Has a few park choices nearby that we often see families at. We’ve walked at all times of the day and night and never felt unsafe. There are a few girls with great sidewalk chalk skills around the corner that are much appreciated."
  • Cathryn P.
"Urban market, opera, ballet, symphony, movie nights in Patricia’s Green. Restaurant and coffee and ice cream culture is big! Lots of great community around the dogs and kids in the park."
  • Lisa S.
"People openly smoke weed so be prepared to answer questions about it. Do not leave anything in car. Never see kids around at all except in parks. "
  • Lisa S.
"Patricias park in Hayes valley is small but dog friendly . Alamo Square Park is also dog friendly. Lots of dog owners in neighborhood "
  • Matt A.
"Great if youre single, not great for families. Weve had needles, cops, poop etc left in front of our place multiple times. Homeless encampments and open drug use abounds. "
  • Njcampbell82
"I have lived in this neighborhood for 10 years. The best part of Hayes Valley is the location. Is it the most centrally located and walking friendly neighborhood in the city. There are also an increasing number of upscale cafes, bars, shops and restaurants. If you can afford to live here you can probably afford to patron those establishments. Overall though, the extremely high cost does not match what you get back. Parking is a nightmare. There is rampant homelessness and constant noise disturbances. There is zero sense of community. Visiting is great, but I would not suggest breaking your budget to live here. "
  • Michael T. C.
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for two years and enjoy it still quite a bit. Centrally locates within the city, it had easy access to public and shared ride services."
  • Michael T. C.
"Octavia park has multiple events such as outdoor movies etc. The neighborhood also boasts close proximity to the opera, jazz house, symphony and others that frequently have events."
  • Lisa S.
"Block party, craft shows, gallery shows and art events, the park, coffee shops, exercising, movie nights, public art, "
  • Sarah M.
"Walkable, charming, magical with the little park in the middle of the neighborhood. Getting crowded though, and it’s a magnet for homeless. "
  • Brielle J.
"not enough play areas for the kids. The kids have to play at the parks. they will have to walk across streets with a lot of traffic. "
  • Kellreimer
"It’s a neighborhood that rapidly gentrified in the 16 years I’ve lived here. 2018 Hayes Valley caters to the young and wealthy tech sector, a community I don’t belong to."
  • Colette P.
"There are lots of dogs around Hayes Valley. But there are also lots of people around, which could hamper a relaxing walk."
  • Colette P.
"The commute is easy because of the nearby Muni station. Lots of buses, too."
  • Colette P.
"Hayes Valley is a safe place. It's also fun for youth."
  • Sean M.
"Hayes Valley has become a place for all sorts of people to get together. There's a lot of art, and I enjoy sitting at Octavia Park. There's good people watching, and it's got a good vibe."
  • Sean M.
"I ride a bus, so my commute is very simple. There are bus lanes everywhere."
  • Jeff K.
"Center of the city, tons of shops and restaurants, and Patricia's green is the best hangout spot in the city!"
  • Jerry R.
"It has lots of restaurants and is close to transportation and the arts. The nearby Asian Art Museum has an incredible collection."
  • Dara V.
"So dog friendly! You will meet so many dogs in the neighborhood, and there are plenty of options for walks and parks. Several neighborhood boutiques cater to dogs and other pets."
  • Dara V.
"Hayes is unique because it's close to so many great neighborhoods and also has so much to offer itself—great shopping, restaurants, nightlife, art and design, and beautiful parks. It has a true neighborhood feel and is nicely diverse."
  • Jerry R.
"It's an easy commute with lots of transit options that come frequently during commuting hours."
  • Dara V.
"Hayes is a great centrally located neighborhood. You're a short walk from the Mission, the Castro, the Haight, and others. It's an easy 30-minute commute on the F streetcar to FiDi."
  • Dara V.
"It's a safe neighborhood with lots of young families. There are many parks and other kid-friendly spots in and near the neighborhood. On Hayes and in the nearby Duboce Triangle area, there are plenty of kid-friendly options among the many great shops and restaurants. Like any other city and the rest of San Francisco, there are some bad parts where you need to be aware, but generally the neighborhood is safe."
  • Paul J.
"Great central location that makes it easy to go downtown or to Golden Gate Park on the Muni 21 line, or to go to the Mission or to the Marina on the Muni 22 line. Walking distance from the opera, the symphony, the ballet, Nourse Auditorium and the new San Francisco Jazz Center. Close to restaurants, shops and bars on Hayes Street. Three blocks to children's playground and basketball court in one direction and three blocks to Alamo Square Park in the other direction. Street parking can be difficult especially after 8:00 pm."
  • Paula M.
"I love the diversity of the people, the shops, the cafes, the restaurants and the friendliness of the people. I would not live anywhere else."
