"The neighborhood is super friendly great people great environment love living in the bay. It is a really nice place. I would not want to live anywhere else."
  • Trulia User
"you see people with all walks of dogs around. most are considerate with picking up with their dogs but you do have to watch out as well."
  • Trulia User
"Great access to public transit, both bus and BART, with good bikes lanes as well. There is also a ferry in the Berkeley marina"
  • Trulia User
"The residents are nice people and there’s a good number of kids. But there are often transients walking through the area."
  • Nayana S.
"Great place to take dogs around as this place is lot like homely and much green bushes. I have seen many dogs walking in the neighbourhood "
  • Torrence P.
"Lots of things to see and do. Diverse and vibrant. It does get loud at night. Public transportation is excellent. "
  • Sara M.
"Lots of students in the area because of the proximity to UC Berkeley. Its also a very political area, marches and cops and helicopters are not uncommon in response to the political climate. "
  • Poppop g. a. t.
"I lived in this neighborhood for 3 years. Since it's just south of the UC Berkeley campus, there is a lot of foot traffic and noise when school is in session. Mostly students live in this neighborhood but there are a ton of homeless people lying on the sidewalks and they can get pretty aggressive. Plenty of cheap restaurants catering to students as well."
  • Rolf
"Great walkable neighborhood with lovely historical homes. Very diverse community."
  • Rolf
"Berkeley has high property taxes with the outcome of good public services and excellent schools. This part of south Berkeley is bicycle friendly with great grocery stores (perhaps the best options in the State!) plus neighbors who walk and know each other. A very enjoyable & diverse neighborhood."
  • Misha
"A perfect 10-15 minute walk to the Cal Campus or the upscale, but delicious Elmwood area. Animal friendly neighborhood, with a fairly strong neighborhood association. The Julia Morgan Theater and Benvenue Public Library as well as excellent schools are just some of the treasures of this area."
