He is incredibly driven and strives to make connections with students, supporting them however possible. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he makes it clear he truly cares about students. While there are surely some teachers who are lacking that same enthusiasm, there are some stellar teachers who work endlessly to educate their students. Highland presents a welcoming environment, filled with diversity. I was hesitant to start attending the school last year, having heard about a negative reputation. I was pleasantly surprised. As a sophomore moving into my second semester, I am faced with nothing but future opportunities, encouragement, and guidance as I move forward. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child enjoys this school much more than Sandia Base. He loves that he got to pick some of his own classes and gets to learn guitar. He has witnessed fights already that left children bloody. He has also been bullied already but the principal took care of it as soon as it was brought to his attention. So far this year the school had to be locked down only a couple months into the school year because someone had a gun outside the school. "Dog owners would love the many lovely places there are to walk a dog. They would not like my Chihuahua who is the only unfriendly neighbor in the area."

"all the dogs here are loud and will dig into your yards to get at your dogs or their food lots of strays around. and poor fence quality."

"I hate the crime in this area gun shots almost every weekend getting out of area in 4 months homes are loosing value every year because of the car are getting broken into home are at risk every day bad place to raise Children "

"Some nice apartment communities but the proximity to the park, the bus stop, and central ave means there are a lot of homeless persons and people who have wandered in due to drug issues or who may be motivated to commit crimes. The park is actually really nice during the day and you can walk to two different grocery stores, which is very convenient. However there are a lot of police sirens at night and I would be nervous to raise kids here who are old enough to want to go everywhere by themselves. "
