"I have lived in this area 20 years. The Four Hills Shopping Center has undergone major remodeling. New movie theater, Whole Foods, Smith’s grocery store, all within walking distance. Great area to live in"
  • "Four Hills Village is a golf course community tucked into the SE corner of Albuquerque. It's bounded by open space to the east (good hiking) and Kirtland AFB to the south (short commute for people who work there). Although it's not a gated community, the single entrance/exit makes it fee like one. The neighbors are friendly, and we talk with many of them on our daily walks. The wide streets and low traffic make waking nice, either with or without pets. The neighborhood has an active HOA (not mandatory, but only $25/yr) and a great women's group that does everything from bridge to scrap-booking. Throw in the private golf course with swimming, tennis and dining, and you've got just about everything right in the neighborhood. The grocery store is two miles away, along with easy access to I-40. The schools are average for Albuquerque, but much improved from a couple years ago because we got the school assignment for the area changed to Manzano. As for the review claiming rude neighbors, that mostly stemmed from a disagreement between neighbors about speed calming measures on the entrance road. Some loved it, some hated it. Both very vocally expressed their opinions. That's all past since the city changed how the speed calming was done. As for the noise, we sleep with our windows open most of the time, and aren't bothered by any loud vehicles. You might be able to hear the trucks on the interstate two miles away if the wind blows right, but that's about it. The reviewer moved, I guess, and that's his loss not ours. One thing we have seen over the years is pride of ownership. People who live here keep their property up (and some have lived here since it was developed in the 1950s), and new neighbors routinely get remodeling done as soon as they move in. Add the wonderful, mature vegetation, and you get a kind of neighborhood that's hard to beat."
