Coronado Elementary School

This was a great school and thought your opinion (as a parent) was important when it came to your child’s academic future but our opinion does not matter to the principal, Mr. March, who cares less. Because he has the authority, he refuses to take in consideration your child’s personal needs. He refuses to meet with you(parent) even upon requesting an appointment with him. Our children have delt with substitutes since last year (pre-k), at least 6 substitutes, which affects our children academic progress. This year (k) they are dealing with the same thing, 30 kids for I substitute and an EA. They have to stop lecturing to deal with other children not following instructions. These girls and us(parents) have had a lot of patience. Our 2 kindergartens have been through all this together and have been supporting each other since nice Pre-K, now they are separated and the principal refuses to even meet with us (parents) to discuss this situation. He is not profesional and has attitude and also intimidates you and of course because “ he made his decision, he is going to move forward” his own words. Even APS says he has the last word on this. I am now looking for a different school for our children. We are not comfortable with our children being around this principal who shows no compassion and consideration for our children needs. With a new principal this school would be a better place to enroll your children.

Run....don't walk...to another school. We had the unfortunately experience of being forced to attend the school secondary to a court order. Most teachers were parents of other kids at the school. The lack of training was evident. This is radical right wing evangelical Christian church which is attended by the president of the national right to life group. If you're of the ilk, you'll get on fine with the sub par teaching and Christian nationalist philosophy. But if your are not, run (don't walk) somewhere else

My child has gone to Escuela all the way from toddler to elementary and I would not recommend to any other families past primary. My child is extremely behind academically, in relation to reading especially. It has required us getting an outside tutor in order to catch our child up to grade level expectations. Teachers seem overwhelmed with behavioral issues to even begin to address the amount of children behind (my assumption). There is constant staff turnover, leadership changes, and hiring of unprofessional adults. It costs $16,000+ to attend this school and there are dead roaches everywhere when I am on campus. The campus itself is run down, the elementary playground looks awful, the classroom materials are broken/worn, and the children’s bathrooms are quite unsanitary. My final note is that Escuela touts its inclusivity, diversity, and overall “woke-ness” when in reality there is very little done to support this. There is very little diversity on campus, very little resources offered, and is all about image. Save your time and money and look elsewhere.
