About this House

Lakefront Cottage Paradise!
Welcome to your oasis of tranquility, nestled on the idyllic West side of Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY.
Graduate, PhD students, professors, or other professionals. This is not undergraduate housing. No Short-Term Renting or Subletting.

Key Features...
Fully Furnished: Beds: one queen, four twins, one full futon. Large dining room table, cozy living room and two additional sitting room areas. Kitchen is fully equipped. All linens are provided.

Amazing Lakefront Location: Wake up to the sound of waves lapping against the shore and the sun casting its golden hues over the water. Sit and enjoy coffee on the deck, wander to the edge of the dock, congregate around the firepit at night, and embrace the ever-changing vistas as the lake's colors shift with the seasons. House comes with two kayaks and a SUP, as well, for use when the lake's temperatures allow!

Pets: Preference is no pets, although owners will consider one small pet on a case-by-case basis. Non-refundable pet fee and additional monthly pet rent of $25 will apply.

Parking Note: A winding driveway and 65 steps down a cliff separate you from this lakeside haven. There is space for 4 cars, comfortably, in the private parking area. In snowy conditions, parking on the main road and walking down the driveway is advised. Last winter there was next to no snow, but no guarantees, of course!

Contact Maureen for info about rental requirements and to schedule a visit. (Do not stop by without an appointment, the house is currently rented.) Dive into the serenity, adventure, and charm that only lakefront living in Ithaca can provide!

Contact Maureen to schedule a showing. Tenants to pay for utilities (including gas and electric) and internet. Home is furnished, there are lots of blankets, towels, pillows, etc, and the kitchen is fully stocked. Grill and table/chairs for outdoor fun are included in rent. Two kayaks and one SUP are also available. Available early September 2024 through May 2025. Negotiable on exact dates. We prefer no pets, we have family members with allergies and we use the house part of the year, but are open to discussing one pet on a case-by-case basis. Tenant is to maintain yard, steps, driveway, etc. Exterior hose bibs to be turned/left off in winter. House is on septic, proper usage required. Lake homes in this area pull water from the lake. There is a chlorination system, but we recommend using bottled water for drinking. A Primo bottled water system is in the house - tenant can get large bottles of water at Lowe's. No smoking, no large parties (we live in a community and want to maintain good relations with neighbors). There is private parking and the lot was recently re-paved. Tenants should not use neighbor's yards or docks...our yard is a slice of heaven - there is really no need to go into the other yards, just want to make sure we mention it! This house has beach access into the lake and a private dock as well! Security deposit = one month's rent. Household income 3x rent and minimum credit score 650 (no cosigners). Background and credit check link will be sent separately. This is not undergraduate housing.

"Lots of inebriated college students driving short distances around the neighborhoods when they shouldn’t be and overly intoxicated walking by houses shouting/ overly rowdy at all times of the night & early morning."
  • Trulia User
"Dog friendly and family friendly. Close to Northeast Elementary and Dewitt Middle school - I used to walk to school as a kid growing up there. Safe"
  • Trulia User
"Lots of college students partying (loud music, public drinking/intoxication, recreational drug use, etc..)."
  • Trulia User
"I have been living in Cayuga heights for 4 years, love it absolutely. Feel sad to leave such a quiet and beautiful place."
  • Samara G.
"They would like the dog park mostly the skateboard park and the only thing they wouldn’t like is some landlords expect dog deposits and some don’t allow dogs, whether working dog or not."
  • Vanessa H. B.
"I walk to my office, which is around the corner from where I live. I love it! There is public transport, which I would feel good about using if I moved. "
  • Tristan H.
"Public transportation is readily available and accessible by all who live in Cayuga Heights. TCAT busses run very often and go in all directions."
  • Lj279
"It is hard to live here and depend on public transportation. You must have a car for groceries and emergencies. There is no biking path or good side walks. "
  • Mnichols
"I have lived on south hill for 25 years in 2 different homes. It is close to downtown and state park, I can walk to ithaca college and buttermilk falls park in 10 min each."

"Views, street lights and nature trail. Traffic can get a bit fast, but the road is safe. New bike paths across the bridge are interesting "
  • Paul
"It is a very easy commute to downtown. Slightly more to the colleges. I consider commutes under 15 minutes to be easy though. I know Ithacans complain about traffic at the “octopus”, but that’s only because most of them have never seen traffic."
  • David W.
"Amazing location! I walk 10 blocks to work. Gimme Coffee is on the way. Historic Northside Triangle is the place to be!"
  • Dani932
"The apartments aren't upgraded for the amount you pay on a one-bedroom. The area is quiet and l haven't had any issues living here."
  • Ronald B.
"Semi-rural atmosphere. Lots of walking paths and hiking trails in the area. Our area of Dryden is in the Ithaca School District, whisky is very good."
  • Trulia User
"Beautiful, nice view. The community is looking forward to sidewalks that will help the area become more navigating. The community is nice but not as inviting as some may like."
  • Latoya Peterson
"Landlords don’t except Section 8 assistants. Good luck getting your security deposit back!?! Slum lords own most property here unfortunately."
  • Trulia User
"Access to public transportation a plus. They need to work on installing shoulders on west king road. Commuting is easy"
  • Paul
"I've lived in the area for 13 years. I've lived in Northeast Ithaca specifically for 5 years. Northeast Ithaca is very competitive as far as buying a home. The people are great and Northeast Elementary including the Ithaca City School District is beyond amazing. Northeast Ithaca is close to Cornell University. There are many reasons why homes in in Northeast Ithaca are in high demand."
  • Littlespoon1970
"I have lived here for three years and I feel safe in this neighborhood. People are friendly and it’s in walking distance to the commons and my work at Ithaca High School."
