Basecamp @ 9700' is on the East side of the Eisenhower Tunnel beside Clear Creek at an elevation of 9700'. Clear Creek runs next to the house, where fly fishing is popular May-Oct. Loveland Ski Area is 5 miles West. The historic town of Silver Plume/Georgetown Loop Railroad is just a few miles East. The Continental Divide Trail and popular Colorado 14ers Grays Peak 14,270 and Torreys Peak 14,267' are just 3 miles up Stevens Gulch Rd. It's a quiet place with a lot of outdoor activity nearby.
The house is at an elevation of 9700'. Weather can vary drastically throughout the seasons and even every day.
The summer at Base Camp is beautiful with weather ranging from a low of 40 degrees at night to a high of about 80 during the day.
There are 2 bathrooms, but only 1 shower in the house. There is a smart TV in the family room, but not in any of the bedrooms.

    "This area is away from almost everything (except 12 min to Loveland Ski Area), and there isn't a nearby 'town' as-in something with a real grocery store for about 20+ miles (Idaho Springs & Dillon are the nearest grocery stores but both are overpriced). Unfortunately if you have kids, they have to go through at least 1 poorly ranked public school (maybe 2 or 3). Employment prospects are nil unless you want to work at a ski area 1/2 the year and work at a fishing/rafting company 3-4 months of the year, and take a few months off to stress about stretching your meager earnings. But the good news is there is plenty of room for dogs and horses, although you couldn't really keep livestock here in the winter as it regularly reaches -20F before factoring in windchill, and the snow drifts to 4-5' deep. There are NO public transit opitions, nor is anything within walking distance, and there are very few public parks (but plenty of national forest and mountains to climb). Oh, and the Interstate that passes by the area gets bumper-to-bumper traffic most of the winter (plus all major holidays) from Friday night through Sunday evening, and you can't get far to get anything done on the frontage road before you'll have to get on the interstate."
