What Locals Say about University Park

"University Park is the premiere neighborhood of PG county. Is near excellect public and private schools. It is convenient to downtown DC, the U of MD, Archives II, the Beltsville US agricultural research center, and the Federal research Center at White Oak. University Park is a ?Tree City? and a historic place. It has a free bus to the Metro, its own police department, and its own trash collection. "

"We have lived here for 13 years...it is a wonderful town, very safe with our own police, mayor and lots of community involvement."

"This is a great neighborhood. It's an historic Town; all of the Pre WWII homes are in the National Register of Historic Places (as a unit, representing a Pre-WWII suburb. Homes built in the 30's, 40's, and 50's. There is no way the town would allow these historic homes to be torn down or turned into mcMansions. This town has its own cops (4), Mayor, and Town Council (no HOA). Walk to library, Metro stop, shopping, Town Park, Wells Creek, and UMCP. Town is very kid and pet friendly, with tots lots, park paths, green spaces, and a solar Co-op. UP Elementary is top-performing, walkable from anywhere in town. Low turnover. Socially active community with a woman's club, churches, and environmental activism. Lots of professors and professionals live here. Reimbursement for planting approved trees! Near downtown College Park with bars and restaurants. Town shuttle to metro. Walk to The Mall at PG Plaza. Lots of nearby bike paths. Near new Downtown Hyattsville's Artists' area."
