"Chillum is a quiet close knit community on the boarder of Washington DC, next to Takoma Park. It is a small community where people moved in and stayed; unless they outgrow their home. The current residents are typically college educated working class professionals with student loans and responsibilities making a life for themselves. It's a place where residents have dinner parties in the winters and barbecues and cocktail parties on their backyard decks in the summer. It's a place where we drive 15 minutes to 14 street NW to bar hop at resturants and lounges, or 15 minutes to Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Union Market on 5th street NE for martins and oysters. IF we get too smashed, we take the Metro (Red line) back home. It's a place where our neighbors pick up each other's mail when either of us goes out of town. Lastly, we will call our police liason if anything looks like it's wrong. My neighbors did not know I was going to get the carpet removed. I left the door unlocked and the flooring crew was there while I was at the office. I received a couple of text messages regarding the "men with van in the drive way". Since my car was not there , my neighbors called the police liaison. Although, it was a spectacle, and the flooring guys were inconvenienced, I appreciate all that my neighbors have done for me. The community is why I enjoy living here. "

"Well cared for neighborhood. Long term residents. Diverse community. All ages. Civic Association. Quiet. Low traffic volume. Convenient to shopping, groceries and public transportation. Large lots. Mature trees. Walkable."
