The elementary years at YMA offer fabulous teachers and a great education. Students are offered “after school” classes to prepare for state exams, Middle school is good but has room for improvement. High school students are given every opportunity to learn, if they don’t then that’s on them! Relationships between students and teachers is very strong which really helps drive and encourage students to do their best. Sports are an integral part of the school. Students have the opportunity to play soccer, basketball, baseball, or swim these are just to mention the most common sports. Too many kids are bused in from other neighborhoods, there are enough children in the neighborhood that should be placed in YMA, instead they are put on buses to other schools. Not sure how that makes sense for a district that is constantly trying to save money

My daughter was not comfortable in this school and I don't want to keep my daughter in this school for Grade 1.

I’ve had a really great experience at this school. The teachers are supportive, caring, and genuinely want their students to succeed. The school community feels welcoming, and there are many opportunities for students to get involved and make good memories. I also feel like the classes have helped me learn and grow academically while becoming more confident as a person. Overall, I’m really grateful to be part of this school and would definitely recommend it to other students and families looking for a great school in Yonkers!
