"Very dangerous, cars dont stop at stop signs, robberies, home invasions, assaults, gunshots, there was a women murdered in her basement, smelly dirty neighborhood I dont feel safe living here with my family. The rent is too high for this type of dirty unsafe neighborhood."

"I live here for two years now and i do love it. A homey feeling around where everything mostly you need are few walk away. Near mass public transit, very good school district, quite diverse but totally quiet and everybody is minding their own business. Banks and restaurants are 2 blocks away and almost eateries are almost endless as the lane of Austin St. goes. Department store across the street, fruit stand and farmers market every sunday morning."

"Flushing Meadows Corona Park is just nearby. Lots of playgrounds and schools in the neighborhood. Most importantly it is a safe neighborhood. It also has more trees and green accents than most of other neighborhoods in Queens. The playground located by Grand Central Expressway has a tennis court and athletic field with volleyball court and track among other parts. Also the neighborhood is a walking distance to Forest Park. Great area for kids. "

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child recently graduated from this school, and I have been deeply disappointed with the experience. This school does not value academic performance. Over the years, I’ve watched many excellent students leave—either transferring to Gifted and Talented programs or other schools.Until 5th grade, my child often complained about not being able to find capable peers to collaborate with on schoolwork. I didn’t send him to a G&T program earlier because I thought elementary school was basic enough that we could support his learning at home. Unfortunately, I was wrong. My child used to be an incredibly curious learner who loved science and math. However, due to the school’s lack of academic focus and absence of like-minded peers, he gradually lost that curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. If your child is self-driven, curious, and academically inclined, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.Parent Review8mo ago17 Reviews - Ps 144 Col Jeromus Remsen

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my children attended this school and I have been consistently impressed by the quality of the teaching and the warmth and support of the school community. The school holds students to high standards, but they also provide all the support needed to get there.Parent Review7mo ago27 Reviews - Ps 220 Edward Mandel

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was there for a year at this school. The principal there provided little to no support. If she was angry and that's most of the times, she takes it out on you. And the students? Most of them were okay. But there were two that got away with MANY of the behaviors because the principal didn't do anything to address it.The staff? They were mostly okay. But unhappy principal means unhappy staff.Ever since I left, I blossomed into a better teacher. And this school? Taught me that some principal should not be leading a school.Teacher Review9mo ago18 Reviews - Academy for Excellence Through the Arts

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI couldn't agree more with the previous parent aboit the principal that governs her school with an iron fist. I can't complain about the teachers there, they are great, but the principal has no social skills and can be very demeaning. My child graduated from there and walked away with a lot of positive memories there. I cant magine the stress and anxiety the teachers must have in there.
