"Many playgrounds including several which exclude dogs. Streets are safe with a few exceptions (Brookline, Putnam, Sidney, Magazine, River). Kids mostly walk to elementary schools. "

"A very complex system of tunnels and bridges. Some roads are very narrow. It is also extremely difficult to find parking. "

"The convenience and the friendly community. Also the diversity of culture and people. Should be cleaner and safer than actually is...I don’t feel safe walking home at midnight after work."

"It's an easy commute from the Red Line, which is very accessible. There's also many bus lines that connect. It does get crowded, but overall easy to get to and from."

"There's a number of pro dog shops, and a lot of water bowls outside of shops for the dogs. Lots of interesting walking areas and small parks. It does get very cold in the winter though, so it's good to check that where you're going will allow your dog."

"There's a lot of diversity and culture. We have so many different types of restaurants, owned and run by members of the culture the food comes from. There's a dance studio, the graffiti alley, and live jazz. The crosswalk next to town hall is rainbow. Food Not Bombs sets up weekly."

"Our library has a lot of good stuff for kids, with an entire floor dedicated to YA and children's literature. There are a lot of homeless people and many of them struggle with addictions, so it's not necessarily the safest to let your kids run around unsupervised after daylight hours."

"Unfortunately right now there are several major road construction projects going on right outside the area. This has contributed to very messy traffic congestion. These projects are not due to be completed for at least 5 more years."

"Cambridgeport still has the feel of a village but it's steps away from all the excitement of Cambridge and Boston. Incredibly easy to get to Boston by bike or T or car. The Red Line is 3 minutes away. Matt Damon grew up across the street!"

"I have lived here since 1978 and have seen it evolve from always being a cultural melting pot of race, class, and income. What it has always been is a real neighborhood with neighbors who care and are involved in their surroundings. I raised my family here and am still here as an elder. It is now a more upscale neighborhood with many renovations and condo conversions. many families with children and many pets. The parks are great and the local dog park is well used. there are also many restaurants and nightlife nearby in Central Sq. The public transportation is very close and user friendly. As a senior, I love my neighborhood and would recommend it to both young and old."

"Cambridgeport is relatively safe, 5 minutes to Back Bay or Harvard Sq., and has many old single-family homes. There are a lot of families, lots of parks, and it is close to the river. The only drawback? Super expensive!"

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagethe teachers, especially in the higher grades, are always so dramatic about things. it’s been almost 2 years since i’ve graduated and i can honestly say that i don’t miss amigos or its teachers whatsoever. yes, it is better than some cambridge schools in terms of education but overall i believe that the connection between the students and teachers is simply not there; it always felt as if the teachers, specifically one who i will not name, always prioritized his ego rather than the education of the students. also, i’ve witnessed teachers blame certain students for things despite not having any evidence. there was an incident in a class i was in where a student wrote “sex” on the whiteboard. the teacher was infuriated and told 5 students to stay after class, i was one of the 5. he told us that he suspects that one of us wrote it or knew who wrote it. i personally did not know anything, and i genuinely did not know why he was so insistent that it was one of us. all of us said that we did not know who it was, which only made him more infuriated. during this, i asked him why he thought it was one of us which he did not answer and to this day this i do not know why. in my perspective, i feel it was unfair since i don’t believe i was a student that would often misbehave in that class. i never received a “lunch detention,” never interrupted him, or caused a disturbance in the class, but still, i recognize that he might have viewed me differently. even with that consideration, i still do think his accusatory behavior was extremely unprofessional. moving forward, this support for neurodivergent children or disabled children is virtually nonexistent. although it may be a result of a lack of resource or training on the teachers part, i’ve witnessed a severe lack of support for children who are challenged. for example, in amigos there was an autistic girl in my class who would have frequent incidents, which the teachers would hardly contain and instead try to punish her instead of teaching her which made the situation worse. it seemed as if everytime the teachers tried to contain a situation, it only got worse. i really only enjoyed the grades kindergarten-6th in this school. i really don’t recommend this school unless you REALLY want your children to learn spanish or be in a spanish environment, since this is the only school in cambridge that offers this experience.Other Review1mo ago17 Reviews - Malik Academy/ Al Bustan Preschool
