the teachers, especially in the higher grades, are always so dramatic about things. it’s been almost 2 years since i’ve graduated and i can honestly say that i don’t miss amigos or its teachers whatsoever. yes, it is better than some cambridge schools in terms of education but overall i believe that
Posted by a community member on 6/20/2026There are always waitlists for this school, given that it's one of the few bilingual public schools. That perk aside, I have not enjoyed this school whatsoever. There is a stronger community here than at some other Cambridge Public Schools, but it was largely destroyed by COVID mitigation measures.

We are friends with many parents and the school community is motivated and involved. The Amigos community school offers amazing afterschool classe

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKing open is a great school! My daughter first went to the school last year. I had to admit she wasn't so sure about it. Now she is doing distance learning and every day she is enjoying it! She has friends who except her for who she is and won't tease her because of glasses. She even came home with a present one of her friend's gave her. I'm shocked by the way the King Open community cares. The teachers and staff at King Open are the most loyal staff you could ever ask for! I know about all the work my daughter is doing because I'm getting informed about it. The staff constantly provide stuff for online-schooling. The only problem I have is my daughter who always gets bored around a computer. Other than that King Open is a wonderful school that deserves 5 stars. King open is also a Vibrant community full of diverse people! One day my daugther was telling me all about native american life and culture because they learn about it during class. I've never had any problems with this school and neither has my daugther. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is the worst school in Cambridge!My children were bullied and faced a life-threatening situation for over 2 years yet the principal and teachers ignored it entirely. We reached out to the police department multiple times and filled more than two police reports . At the end the police officer who referred us to the person in charge at the school — but we never received any response.No one helped us. Not a single person — not the school district, not the councilwoman, not any leader or elected official. The system is broken, and someone needs to investigate the principal immediately.
