Park Manor

Our daughter just graduated from Brownell's Pre-K program with Ms. Godina and Mrs. Thompson. Our experience at the school has been wonderful--the staff is welcoming and professional, and our daughter's teachers were incredibly kind, patient, and nurturing. Over the past year, we watched our daughter blossom and mature in every way. She's calmer, more confident, and of course much more knowledgeable--during her year at Brownell, she's learned her letters and how to write her name, and is ready to start reading and writing. She often came home proud of work she had done in class. The school offers fun and enriching field trips, as well as manageable homework assignments that encourage parents and kids to work together. The Brownell community is passionate and engaged, and we are proud to have been a part of it.

My daughter attended this school for one day and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. As a parent of a nonverbal child with an IEP, communication, patience, and professionalism are extremely important to me. From the very first interaction, I felt unwelcome and dismissed.I was never properly introduced to my child’s teacher or shown the classroom environment. The teacher stated she was unaware my daughter would even be joining her class that day and had little information about her needs. Pickup communication on the first day was also handled in a way that felt rude and confrontational rather than understanding or supportive.I completely understand schools have schedules and policies, however first impressions matter, especially when working with children who require extra care and support. As a parent, I did not feel comfortable leaving my child in an environment where communication already felt negative on day one.I hope the school improves its parent communication and transition process for future families.

I have an 2nd and 8th grader that attends Park Manor and my 8th grader has an learning disability problem and she is doing really good. My 2nd grader is also learning everything he needs to learn and he has came a long way. I really like the school it's so nice and the staff is helpful and you can tell they enjoy working at Park Manor.

I have no good review for this school. My granddaughter attend Tanner, I would like for her parent to place her in another school that is willing and able to work with the parent who are concern about there child(ren)'s educations. We have had complaint and the issue have not been addressed.

St.C prepared my daughter so well for high school, that I had to write an review! My daughter graduated from St. C with extremely high test scores, selfconfidence & an enthusiam for learning. She tested into Whitney Young,her for choice & is excelling. I owe it all to St. C for giving her a good solid academic and moral foundation.The school is very costly but it is worth every penny, esp when you see the high schools, test scores, how well behaved your child is and the colleges these kids attend after leaving St. C. Its a true investment. And the teachers are also VERY caring, knowledgeable in their subjects and push.the kids to go further in their academics. They offer; Spanish & French, sports, clubs, boys and girls scouts, andhigh test scores usually im the 90%. Their grads test into their first choice high schools including; Whitney Young, Brooks, Marist, Mt. Carmel, St. Ignatius, Chicaho Academy for the Arts (CAA, private schl), Chicago Ag , Urban Prep, DelaSalle, Mother McCauley, La Luimere(private catholic boarding schl).High parental involvement is strong and the Principal knows each child by their first names. This school is worth every penny and more!

Please, if you love your children stay away from this school or any schools on the south side for that matter. As a former student, i cant tell you your kids will graduate unprepared for high school as well as college. In high school they didn't even bother to buy us new books, we used the same ones we had in sophomore year. They don't bother to hire teachers, they use caps workers who are former criminals. I wish i knew what i knew now, i would have definitely seemed a high school that could truly prepare me for college, this schools prepares kids for janitors, security guards,downtown city workers, and jail!

My experience with this school was disappointing. One of the biggest concerns was the high turnover among both teachers and administrators. If you visit, I encourage you to ask staff members how long they’ve been at the school, you may notice a pattern. I also observed ongoing issues with bullying and felt that discipline and consistency were lacking. It’s difficult to establish a strong school culture when leadership changes so frequently. During my experience, it seemed like principals changed every two to theee years, making it hard to build long-term structure and accountability.Another concern was the low enrollment, which resulted in multiple split-grade classrooms. In my opinion, this can be challenging, especially for students in the higher grade who may spend time reviewing material they already learned the previous year while the teacher instructs the younger grade. Before making a decision, I recommend comparing enrollment numbers with other Catholic schools in the area and asking questions about class sizes, staff retention, and student enrollment. Those conversations may provide helpful insight as you determine what school is the best fit for your child.
