I am the parent of a recent graduate (within the past 5 years) and the parent of a child just beginning their school journey. My older child came to Sayles from another local school district that has a much higher Great Schools rating than Sayles but that didn't stop the bullying from anyone within that school system. When I say anyone I mean other students, teachers, administrators. Let me be clear there were very caring teachers there but they weren't enough to overcome the PTSD that my student developed while there. We moved to Sprague, enrolled at Sayles and my child's special educational needs were handled very well and my child flourished in, what I consider to be, a more intimate school setting with small classes. Special education accommodations are no longer needed at the high school level and my child is now an honor student going into senior year. Now I have a younger child in the Sayles school system and so far I have seen the same thing. I have a positive working relationship the administration and all the staff in the school. Overall I am VERY happy with the Sayles school system. They do a great job with the hand they are dealt (budget-wise). It takes more than just great teachers for children to flourish parents have to step up as well.
