"Not neighborhood for families. It’s for young single people who have the urban edge and want to be close to the city center. Whole Foods , theatres movies and jobs. "
  • Tnboyinri
"It’s very convenient to lots of festivals protests and other city hall events . Watch where u walk though plenty of dirty needles Etc , but it is San Francisco after all "
  • Chino M.
"There’s easy access to all modes of public transportation—bus, rail/subway, tech shuttles, even bikes & scooters. It is a government and commercial area close to downtown, so it easy to get in and out."
  • Aimee S.
"It’s a horrible area. Please don’t raise your kids here. It’s very unsafe, and the police and government don’t care."
  • Josh E.
"Tons of civic events steps away. From night of ideas, a way to socialize philosophy and ideas to make society better to st Patrick’s day parade and the Christmas time skating rink there is a lot to do seasonally, close to Hayes valley and tons of public transit its easy to get to anywhere in the city or take a leisurely walk to nice restaurants and nightlife."
  • Florie J.
"It’s got great energy! I love all the places to eat and eat out regularly. I feel totally comfortable walking by myself if I go out at night. There are always people walking around."
  • Cshanahan09
"You don’t know if you’re picking up dog or human poop if you don’t pay attention. Hayes Valley is nice to walk except for the homeless problem"
  • Umbawuike
"My commute to to work, gym, and nightlife is so easy living in this area of the city. The Civic Center train station has all BART and Muni lines drop offs. The area is not hilly so residents could walk almost any where. It is the most convenient location in the city for public transit use."
  • Umbawuike
"The fine arts. There are four theaters in the neighborhood, the symphony, the Opera House, several museums, and various artistic things going on."
  • TallyS
"Being close to SF Opera, SF Jazz and SF Ballet is a treat. Restaurants are on point and coffee shops in Hayes Valley are great. You can always find something to do. "

"Close to everything and easy to get around. However it’s loud and has a concrete jungle vibe. No parking when you need it. Constant car breaking"
  • Toniamcunningham
"it's dope👌👌👌 love where I live. in the middle of everything. easy to get around. hella busses pull up put front. "
  • Weeksaucee
"I've been here a year and it's close to public transportation and near market street. it's not as safe but it's convenient "
  • Michelled
"I have lived in my neighborhood for 10 years now and have watched it change and grow. It is now a booming with many new stores, business and all kinds of construction popping up. While progress is great and healthy, the feel is no longer neighborhoody. I still love where I live as it is so central and public transit is so easy to access. On a negative note I find homeless people sleeping on my steps regularly."
  • Monkeyatarms
"I work in this area. The number of junkies shooting up in public that I see during my morning and evening commute is truly disheartening. Homeless camping is a given, but the open use of hypodermics is a newer, more ominous development."
  • Timothy H.
"Drug dealers, sirens at all hours of the night, a mix of homeless folks and addicts, and a healthy dollop of human/pet feces lining the sidewalks are some of the things that will turn you off about the Tenderloin. But if you can see past the squalor, you will be rewarded with some of the best food in the city, along with some of the most heartwarming communities and individuals that comprise the true soul of San Francisco. This ain't the Marina or Pac Heights - it's got much more character than that and you will find diamonds all around this rough if you open both your eyes and your heart."
  • David W.
"great central location with the typical drawbacks associated with urban living like parking and noise. Being the only residential building in the 300 block for me is a good thing. 24/7 coffee shop at the corner, The close proximity to civic center plaza can be an issue, particularly with noise at times as this is the end point of most marches, parades and demonstrations. As well as the gathering place for many of the cities public events such as gay pride and cultural festivals. "
