"Chinatown is filthy. It is not safe to walk here at night. Many crazy druggy homeless people roam the Chinatown streets at night and they’re aggressive. There are cockroaches and rats allover Chinatown. "

"The Chinese culture and food here are amazing. At Chinese New Year, the streets are bustling, and there are big dragon dance parades and firecrackers going off."

"Dog owners would like the friendly people and the parks in Chinatown. However they would dislike the fact that it's a pretty crowded area for dogs to walk and run around."

"The architecture of Chinatown's traditional housing and markets makes it unique. It's a fun environment where you interact with people a lot when you're buying groceries and food. My favorite neighborhood events are the Moon Festival and Chinese New Years, when my family and I go out into the streets to explore the booths, play games, and try snacks."

"A typical commute to and from my neighborhood is on foot or on the bus. There are many bus stops in my area."

"Parents should know that Chinatown is really crowded, so they shouldn't think much of it when people are being rude by pushing them in the streets."

"This is not really a dog friendly area—you would be better off in North Beach."

"The ethnic culture makes it unique. Also, the entrepreneurs willing to open new shops, the availability of diverse types of food, and the fairs and festivals on holidays."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have two children currently attending NDV, and we’ve had a wonderful experience from the start. The school has a warm, welcoming environment where students are excited to learn and grow.Academically, NDV shines. The curriculum is rigorous yet supportive, and we’ve seen our children challenged and inspired in the best ways. Students benefit from daily French instruction and a vibrant arts program. NDV’s commitment to academic excellence leads to excellent high school placements. We feel confident that our children are being well-prepared for the future. What really sets NDV apart is the strong sense of community—several of the teachers and staff are alumni themselves, which speaks volumes about how much they value and believe in the school. NDV recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, a testament to its lasting impact on generations of students and families. Our children especially love the after-school programs, with chess and cooking class being favorites. These activities have helped them explore new interests outside the classroom. We’re truly grateful to be part of such a caring and dedicated school community. We highly recommend NDV!Parent Review1y ago32 Reviews - St. Mary's School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been attending St. Mary's School for two years now and the intention is to have her stay through the 8th grade. I've been very happy with the class sizes and student:teacher ratio. This allows the teachers and staff to devote themselves to providing much attention to each student on multiple levels. Credence is paid to developing thoughtful young adults who act with kindness toward others. In addition, my child is in the Chinese after school program and is learning Mandarin; a valuable asset in today's day and age. The STEM program has enriched the student curriculum and I am happy about the use of tablets in the classroom and at home. Overall I couldn't ask for a better education and preparation in today's competitive economy while receiving tender loving care at school.Parent Review10y ago11 Reviews
