"Grew up here, never once felt unsafe or odd about any part of the neighborhood. Generally older residents with children in grade school. Great area "

"I have lived in University Park since 1945. The original purpose of the area was support for the University of Denver, which had moved from its original location in downtown Denver to what would become University Park, seven miles south of town. Abutting DU to the south sits the Iliff School of Theology. Many older homes, that were built for the professors and trustees of these schools remain and are considered iconic in the neighborhood. As the schools grew, and as Denver expanded to the south, houses of every style, size and era were built, giving University Park a kaleidoscope of visual treats for those who like to walk or bicycle around the area. At any time from dusk to dawn, people are out and about pushing strollers, walking their dogs or just strolling along the wide streets. Many large, old trees can be found, including several of the cottonwood trees that Mrs. Iliff planted from her massive mansion between South Cook and South Madison along Warren Avenue to the Iliff School of Theology, located at the southwest corner of University Blvd. and Warren Avenue. The elementary school, University Park School, has an excellent rating and is heavily supported by the neighborhood. I attended this school in the 40's and early 50's! Residents of University Park are kind and friendly but not intrusive. They watch out for each other and know when something doesn't look right. They are not pretentious but down to earth. The women have a monthly get together and the young mothers also have a social connection. There are special events in the neighborhood that are free and well attended. They include a wonderful 4th of July kids parade with Warren being closed to automobiles, the Denver Municipal Band playing patriotic favorites, hot dogs and popsicles for sale and culminating with the fire engine spraying massive amounts of water into the park for all who want to get soaked. There is also a horse drawn hayride in December and concerts in the summertime. "

"For those that want to be able to walk to movies, restaurants and Light Rail, this is the place to be! Close to the action but still secluded enough to have privacy when you want it."
  • "UNbelievable area! THis area is close to DTC, downtown and unbelievable growth"
  • Courtneyrye
"Access everything Denver has to offer in 10-15 minutes with easy access to Colorado, University, Evans and I-25 while being able to get away from it all by pulling into this quiet but active and friendly neighborhood. With parks on either end and access to the Highland canal, active singles and families will enjoy the ease of getting around, finding parking and entertaining."
