Read what parents are saying about St. Matthew Catholic SchoolMy child was initially excited about attending St Matthews …. The facilities look nice … but first impressions usually don’t tell you the whole story … overall the teachers are very average …. I think the school is more concerned about athletics rather than developing its students academically… I still don’t understand why they have portable buildings to teach students and yet they spent a fortune on an oversized gym which looks so out of place there… as for the rampant bullying… not enough space here to air out my grievances ….. they’ve had good administrators in the past …. But the last school principle was a joke.. absolutely clueless … thank God she’s leaving the school…. But she should look for another type of work…. Maybe working at a. All selling shoes…. She needs to stay out of education… completely. Overall, save your money .. go elsewhere …. Your child deserves better.
Posted by a parent on 5/28/2023My child attended this school. It was horrible. The bullying and lack of support from admin, teachers and counselors was shocking. The level of rigor of education was lacking, as well. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
Posted by a parent on 5/1/2023Excellent! You can see how successful the school is by how successful and happy the children are. My children can't wait to go to school each day. They are very bright, bilingual students on the honor roll.
Posted by a parent on 3/1/2018Great school, lot of learning opportunities. The sports are still being considered first than academics in recognition wise. That needs more improvment.
Posted by a parent on 11/7/2017Horrible communication from staff to parents, highly concerned about safety precautions/practices, they encourage poor eating habits. They require each family buy a large bag of candy for the Fall Festival and then hand out all the excess to the children regularly throughout the rest of the school year - weekly and sometimes even daily (even after I asked them not to - which puts my child in a position of feeling left out). On a positive note, the facilities are nice and for the most part, the staff is courteous. My child doesn’t hate it there but he doesn’t love it there either. The only reason he likes it is because of the friends he’s made there, other than that, he says that he doesn’t want to go there. Unfortunately this school does a very poor job of educating the whole child and falls extremely short of the standards that I have found in other schools in the city we came from. My child is not excited to be there. I’m very disappointed and will be removing my child as soon as possible.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids love their teachers Davis and Elizalde and they're learning a lot of new things very easily! They are kind and patient. The only concern is that occasionally my son feels like the teachers don't see other kids being mean to him. My kids are excelling academically and they love and know many members of the school faculty and staff by name. We're very happy with our experience so far!Parent Review4mo ago - Holmgreen Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Holmgreen Center is one of the best places that I have ever worked. Every staff member on that campus is dedicated to helping each student be the best that they can be. I have never worked at any where that cares so much for every individual student and does whatever it takes to make sure each student is successful.Parent Review1y ago - Howsman Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMost students in my son's class were bilingual. Unfortunately, he was not and did not understand the students and teacher speaking Spanish. He started calling himself "the sometimes kid". Sometimes he would get a little bit of help but the priority was to teach the kids who spoke Spanish in class. Is language immersion necessary? Of course, it's an effective program. Leaving other children out that do not fit into that mold is NOT OK. I also could not believe the things I was hearing coming out of the mouths of elementary school children. We came from a different state, if our students had behaved that way at home, their little butts would have been kicked out the door. All of the kids at this school deserve a better chance. I know some teachers are probably trying...but some are not.Parent Review4y ago - Mead Elementary School
