We have been at OHT for 3 years and are very happy with our experiences. To all of the complainers, I say GET INVOLVED! It is my experience that students who have involved parents do better in school in all aspects. Get to the know the administration and teachers, start from a position of respect rather than suspicion, volunteer if you're able, read with your kids every night. This school has hard working and caring staff who have high expectations of the students and are constantly adapting and improving to best serve their students. Yes, we are a Title I school but that designation comes with a lot of benefits: free breakfast and lunch for everyone, free books from the district at least once a year, extra funds, extra programs. My kids are thriving academically and emotionally here and I would recommend this school to anyone in my neighborhood (and in fact I wish more families would bring their kids to public school rather than charters and private- the school would be even better with the addition of their children).
