Posted by a community member on 12/1/2023After moving from a different private school last year, my kids have thrived emotionally, spiritually, socially, and academically at FWC! The communication between educators and parents is top notch, and they truly know, value, and love each and every student regardless of social status, which has been an EXTREMELY refreshing change from our previous experience.
Posted by a parent on 6/23/2023My son went to Pre-K here for 6 months and I have to thank them for trying to force him into therapy at the age of 4 for not wanting to sit still or color, for wanting to touch other kids and play, and for not opening things himself at lunchtime (because he was told to ask for help if he wanted help by me). I am thanking them because now my child is homeschooled and is absolutely thriving and growing in a way I never thought he could. Seeing him burst into tears the second we picked him up from this school was bad, hearing him say "I don't know how to learn" and "I don't know how to behave" was worse, but the absolute worst was picking him up after he got in trouble and being told they put "something heavy in his lap to get him to sit still.. because that's what is done sometimes in occupational therapy," and being told "If you don't put him in therapy and try to do this alone, you will fail," those were the last straws. Do not spend your money on this school unless your child is of perfect behavior and obedience, because otherwise they do not have the time for you. Also, like other comments have said, bullying is a problem here.
Posted by a parent on 9/28/2022There are too many great public schools in the NRH/HEB area to waste your time with FWC. Academics are not strong although everyone there thinks that they are and the elementary school is a joke. The current elem. principal is leaving this year and that will be nothing but positive for the campus. From head masters to principals, it’s a revolving door at that school. And unless you’re Church of Christ or an alum, you are not “the chosen.” Do your research and do better.
Posted by a parent on 3/25/2022My daughter very much enjoyed her experience at FWC. She started in the 6th grade and graduated high school last week. She was able to participate in sports, theater, drill team. Her teachers and the entire staff knew, valued and loved her. She is dyslexic and the school was amazingly helpful in getting her the accommodations so she could succeed. She scored great on her ACT and accepted to every college where she applied. We highly recommend FWC.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't say enough good things about this school. My youngest currently goes to Hardeman, and my oldest went to Hardeman when she was in Elementary. The teachers and staff are amazing, and it is such a relief to know my children are treated so well by all of the staff (my youngest even raves about custodial and cafeteria staff!). We currently open enroll here, because when we lived in the area it always felt like this school provided a "team" of people supporting my child. No matter what she is working through, there are so many people at the school that are consistent resources for her.Parent Review1y ago - Holiday Heights Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe absolutely love Smithfield Elementary! We bought our house in the Smithfield boundaries based on a teacher friend’s recommendation, and we are grateful we did. Smithfield feels like one big welcoming family. They are a “Capturing Kids’ Hearts” showcase school, and you can feel the warmth and kindness when you walk through the doors. The counselor, Janie Smith, seems to connect to every single child on their level. We’ve seen the same care from the teachers, who value and invest in their students. The school focuses on different character qualities each quarter, and kids and teachers nominate students who have exemplified these qualities as “Wonderful Wildcats.” I’m just so thankful my child is in such an encouraging and uplifting atmosphere. He loves his teachers, friends, principals, and cafeteria monitors. It did not take long to feel part of the family. Also, since this is a school, I should add that the teachers are very experienced and gifted in helping kids who struggle and those who are high achievers to improve. I don’t know how they have the time to personalize curriculum and reading materials for every child, but they do. I compared all the local school’s ratings in student improvement, and Smithfield stood out several years ago when we were house-hunting. And they still do. The administration, staff, and teachers are doing it right.Parent Review3mo ago - Snow Heights Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average3 of my kids attended NRE. They had wonderful teachers who taught well, and addressed my concerns. Especially with one of my children who needed extra help keeping up. Demographics are changing a bit, but if the parents are able to be involved things should stay the same. Please know that when your child is in school the teachers need your cooperation too. Help your child with homework, check on their progress, volunteer in their classroom. These teachers love teaching but when parents don't do a thing it's harder to teach.Parent Review1y ago
