Read what parents are saying about Washington Global Public Charter SchoolThis is our first year at Washington Global and my daughter is very happy with the school. I want to start by first saying that my daughter's class has not been quarantined all year and there have not been a lot of COVID cases in the school. I know the school put a lot of money and effort into health and safety and it shows and has paid off. For example, my child eats spaced apart from other students in her group and the school always has extra masks and keeps the facilities very clean. We were worried about her going to school during COVID and this has been a excellent experience. I also want to highlight how accessible the teachers and administration are. I can call and email and get a prompt response. The whole team is caring and I feel like my daughter is getting a great education here.
Posted by a parent on 1/21/2022I was really nervous about my son transitioning to middle school but his experience at Washington Global has been great. He has an IEP and needs extra support. The teachers and special Ed director have been great and so responsive. Even though the school is virtual he participated in the after school clubs. He has also met his teachers for outdoor tutoring sessions. My son even made the honor roll for the first time!
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2021My daughter started at Washington Global last school year as a 7th grade transfer. This school is such a breath of fresh air from her previous school where she struggled with students bullying her. She has not had one issue at this school. The teachers have been great and very responsive and the Dean and Principal are always there to help. I also love that she takes Spanish and Korean class. The school is virtual this year because of COVID, but they made sure all of the students got a computer and internet hotspots before the school year started. They also had outdoor tutoring and individual tutoring , which was a great opportunity. We couldn’t be happier.
Posted by a parent on 12/27/2020My overall experience has been nothing but great this year. My daughter has gotten a great education (even with moving into distance learning). Her teachers are phenomenal, and I love how I am able to speak with the leadership team! I've been extremely impressed with the quality of their distance learning program, and I love seeing how engaged my daughter is in her education.
Posted by a parent on 3/31/2020Horrible! As a formal ANC Commissioner the Washington Global public charter school has more fights than Jefferson middle school which is a D.C. public school. They need to let go of some corrupted teachers and staff members and add in hiring some Yale and Harvard and Georgetown University graduates to the team to help run that place if they want claim down this bullying and put some full order around there,no offense!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a Brent Elementary alumni whom is very very very fond of the school environment. The teachers are nice and helpful. They really care and wanted me to succeed. I became best friends with one of the teachers the first of kindergarten. To this day we are still besties for the resties. It is super easy to make friends I still have many close friends from when I was at Brent. The teachers very active in and out of the classroom. One of my favorite memory’s was when my teacher would play kick ball with us. Just know that sending your child to this amazing school is a great decision.Other Review5mo ago - Amidon-Bowen Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've only been a part of the PreK program so far but love it. Our son adores all the teachers, is learning a ton, and was so excited to go back this fall. I take it as a great sign that he is eager for Mondays/going back to school each week. Such a great neighborhood gem.Parent Review1y ago - Peabody Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur experience at Peabody was frustrating and disappointing, particularly at the height of the pandemic but also in the months that followed. Teachers, staff, and even many of the high-income parents that drive discussion around school policies were dismissive (and often openly rude) about concerns from parents like me (I am a single mother) about how the inconsistent and confusing Covid restrictions were harming those families that couldn't afford nannies and tutors to get them through the constant school closures. Even once the children had returned to in-person learning, school staff had seemingly lost interest in teaching the kids, and staff refused to provide insight into what was going on in the classroom or how my child was progressing once he was back in school. I felt that essentially this was a school community catering to privileged families, pretending to care deeply about doing social good, but utterly failing those of us who didn't have the luxury of seeing things the way they did. Once I moved my child to a different school, his new teachers immediately identified that he had fallen behind his peers significantly and got him the help he needed, even though Peabody teachers never mentioned nor answered questions about how he was struggling academically. That was a lower priority for them than scolding him about pulling his mask down on the playground outside.Parent Review1y ago - St. Peter School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been at St. Peter School for two years at the middle school level. We have been pleased with the academics and believe the students are being prepared for rigorous preparatory high schools. The school also has a community feel and our daughter was welcomed in, made friends quickly and is thriving. My frame of reference for comparison is based on the schools my wife and I attended and the previous school my daughter attended which was rated 8/10 on great schools. SPS’s expectations and standards are higher and I believe the school to be overall superior to our other school experiences.I read a review about the school not being tolerant of students from different backgrounds. I will say I have not seen that at this school. What I have seen is a respectful environmental. I also read a review about the school not being for students at the high or low end of academic spectrum. The academics are rigorous come middle school, so I can see it being a problem for students struggling at their grade level, but even for students at the higher end of the spectrum, I believe they will be challenged. Even the best students’ parents have commented that their child has been challenged at the middle school level.Parent Review1y ago - Capitol Hill Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKids screaming, running, and playing, outside between 8:00-8:30am EST in a residential courtyard of a luxury apartment building. When Melissa was asked to adjust outdoor playtime to a more reasonable hour to rectify the negative impact she’s having on the community, she responded with sarcasm and unprofessionalism.Other Review3mo ago - Van Ness Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat a gem this school is! We absolutely love the school. Our daughter is in kindergarten and she has had the best experience here. Everyone from Principal Rivers to my daughter's teacher work very very hard to ensure success for the children. My husband previously taught elementary school for 13 years in Maryland and, before she attended Van Ness, we'd actually considered local private schools in the area. However, after this year, we are convinced that she could not receive a better education anywhere else. We will definitely be staying put!Parent Review2y ago
