Thousand Oaks Elementary School

The principal, teachers and staff did not care that my daughter was being bullied. I thought schools had a no bullying policy. My daughter was bullied by the same group of girls for 2 years, from first to third grade. Numerous talks to the principal and teachers were the same. "We have talked to the students." And...that's it? These girls had their friends and a boy corner her in the playground and were pushing her, pulling her hair and calling her names. My daughter finally stood up for herself and she is the one that gets in trouble? After two years and numerous reports my daughter was the only one reprimanded. Her teacher even told her she was the bully, which infuriated me. I withdrew her immediately after that incident and have home schooled her since. This is appalling and unacceptable.

I have had to move around quite a bit and, as a result, have had experiences with many schools in this city. The staff have been highly communicative about my child's performance as well as the more in-depth areas where she struggles. In a collaborative effort between myself and her teachers, my child has jumped three grade levels in her reading performance in the one year she has been here. I've noticed that some schools that turn out high-achieving students only seem to focus their attention on children that are already high-achievers so my daughter consistently fell through the cracks. The teachers here have collaborated with me and have come up with their own strategies to help my own struggling child grow while also telling me when my child has worked especially hard or achieved a learning milestone. I expect that by the end of this upcoming school my child will have completely caught up to her peers. They've pushed her to excel without making her miserable. She has looked forward to returning to school all summer. My only regret is that this will be her last year with them as she moves on to middle school.

DONT SEND YOUR SPECIAL EDUCATION KIDS HERE. When I attended this school i got shoved into a closet area and the door was barricaded with another closet and that happened almost daily when i would cry and i ran out the school 3 times and once made it halfway to my neighborhood then decided to come back.

All three of my children attended SACS from kindergarten through 12th grade. All three kids were accepted to top-notch universities, one of them earning a full academic scholarship. SACS thoroughly prepared my kids for college and a career. In addition, my kids grew in their faith and have never wavered. While the academics were sometimes stressful, students at SACS are strongly encouraged to have balanced lives and participate in sports, theater, band, fine arts, or other extracurriculars. In addition, local service projects and mission trips are highly encouraged and part of the school calendar. The teachers are loving, supportive, and experts in their fields. The high school has many dual credit and AP offerings, and all my kids entered college with 18-30 hours.

We LOVED this school and I would highly recommend!The staff is knowledgeable and compassionate and the owner really believes and cares about education!

Do not chose this school, as they will put the needs of children that have family members who put donations in to put there child first, or if you are a waiting list like we were for 4+ years. Its based on a winning lottery number to have your child be accepted into this school. Dont waste your time with this
