Redbud Elemementary School

We have loved our time at Gattis. It is a great little school. We have had 504's/IEP's be accommodated really well and we love the PTA and school activities. Overall, we have had a great experience at Gattis.

Front office staff; one lady in particular who shall remain unnamed but runs the front desk is extremely rude towards me on different occasions. This is unacceptable and when I took it up with who I believe to be the assistant principal she was very dismissive to my plea. All I ask for is for staff to be respectful and unassuming, here that is not the case. Speaking up now since my child will NOT be returning to this school.

I am writing this review with heavy disappointment. Our daughter has attended this school since first grade, and we have witnessed a stark decline in the school's culture, safety, and leadership quality over the past two years, particularly following the change in administration.The atmosphere at this school has shifted toward a environment that feels permissive of aggressive behavior. Throughout the year, there has been a recurring issue of boys physically harassing and slapping girls. Despite this being an ongoing problem, the response from the school has been inadequate.Most recently, our daughter was physically slapped by another student. We were never contacted by the school. There was no incident report, no phone call, and no follow-up. When we brought this to the principal’s attention, it was clear that they were completely unaware of the incident, demonstrating a fundamental failure in reporting protocols and child safety oversight.When policies fail to protect students and incidents are ignored or swept under the rug, it creates a culture where students learn that accountability does not exist. We no longer feel this school provides a safe or nurturing environment for our daughter. Prospective parents should be aware of these systemic issues with safety protocols and communication before enrolling.

This school is honestly amazing! The parent support is like nothing I’ve seen before. The pta and homeroom parents support the teachers and staff. The teachers seem to actually enjoy their jobs and aren’t burnout. The staff is all so tenured. My second child is on year 4 and I have one that went kinder through 5th and I’ve never had a complaint. Any concern I had was always addressed and followed up with. It is truly an amazing school.

Terrible school! They have no resources for your child if they struggle. The bullying is out of control! The teachers are very lazy!

Classroom management exceeds expectations. Kids are engaged, excited, and challenged. Teachers support learners of all levels and work hard to make lessons engaging and inclusive of other subjects.

We are truly grateful for the wonderful experience our child had in Pre-K at Veterans Hill Elementary School. As an ESL student, our child came to school still learning English, and since we do not speak English at home, we were naturally worried about how the adjustment would go. But from the very beginning, Miss Perez made our child feel safe, welcomed, understood, and encouraged.Thanks to her patience, kindness, and amazing teaching, our child’s English improved tremendously within just one year. The confidence, communication skills, and growth we have seen have been truly incredible. More than academics, she helped build confidence, independence, and a love for learning.Miss Perez has always been caring, supportive, approachable, and understanding with both students and parents. We will always remember the positive impact she had during such an important stage of our child’s life.A big shout out as well to Miss Mejia for all her support, warmth, and care throughout the year. Both teachers created such a positive and nurturing environment for the children, and we truly appreciate everything they have done for our family.Thank you, Veterans Hill Elementary, for giving our child such a beautiful start to the school journey!
