Read what parents are saying about Lida Hooe Elementary SchoolI think the school is making a great improvement with the new principal. He is actually involved with all of the school activities. He is walking the halls, helping with the drop offs in the morning, which was a huge problem. Pylons are setup at the curb, now. We get recorded calls for updates and reminders of activities. Ultimately it is up to the parents to step up and volunteer to do more for the children and school. Teachers can only do so much during their ten hours or more a day for our children. I wish they had more sport activities for the kids, like soccer, volleyball, baseball or softball. It takes time to make it to the top, but at least we are striving to get there!Think Positive....stay positive!
Posted by a community member on 2/23/2017They use the term of going above and beyond to help kids yet offer no one on one help or after school help it's clear that when a school gets low test scores and their rates are low then you would think that the school all together should step up to make sure are kids are learning and able to offer more and if your kid has Adhd their only option is to place them on meds so it's a quick fix for the school I really wish more parents would step up and come together so that we can make this school do more for are kids and if the school don't care maybe us as the parents can start a movement to take are problems with this school to someone who can hear are voice so change can be made for the sake of are kids
Posted by a parent on 1/21/2016The principal of this school doesn't care about her staff. She is NEVER at school and is cold to the kids. However, the teaching staff is wonderful and should be given credit for putting up with their principal.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kindergartener attends Henderson. We love the small class size (13 kids in his class!) and his teacher, Ms. A! He does qualify for special needs, so gets services at school. As I’m sure with any school, that does take some work to go through and you have to be willing to advocate for your child. I would like to see more engagement from school leadership, and parent opportunities (though I’m sure some of the reason that has been lacking is because of covid).Parent Review2y ago - John F Peeler Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff are extremely ill equipped, from the counselor to the principal. They don't communicate and they don't know their own policies beyond the attendance policy which is the only one they care about enforcing. We just moved to this area and will not be returning next year.Parent Review4mo ago - Stevens Park Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrific! My daughter was attending school in a topknot district in Texas. When we moved to be closer to my work, I was a bit nervous about sending her here! All that changed, her 4th grade teachers are better than the best! They worked hard helping her build more confidence in herself to go beyond and reach her potentials in learning! She has always struggled in mathematics, but went up in it! Her math teacher helped her and would not take anything less! Her teacher that taught her science and reading, she was always eager to learn, because her teacher nurtured her love for those two subjects! The same with her writing and social studies teacher! My daughter loves to write and her teacher encouraged it, while we renforced it at home!! They did an excellent job as her teachers, while we did our job as parents in communicating with them, and back up what she was learning in her classes!!Parent Review6y ago - Winnetka Elementary School
