This school isn't like any other not in a good way. Theres only a few way for students to get it, they have to be residents of the Oaks or be enrolled in the magnolia program.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEden park was a great experience for us. The school has a very community feel. Parents are involved and the staff and administrators are responsive to concerns or needs. If your child needs afterschool care, however, I do not recommend the extended care that they offer. The staff is impersonal and rarely interacts with the kids. The word my son used to describe them is ‘mean’. There are lots of options for afterschool care choose literally any of them other than this one.Parent Review9mo ago - Cunningham Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA hidden gem in South Austin! Registering at Joslin was the best choice we have made since moving to Austin. The administration is caring and helpful. The PTA goes above and beyond to make Joslin a fun and beautiful campus. The small community is special and incredibly welcoming. My kids have tons of after school enrichment to choose from and every teacher we have had genuinely loves and cares about my child and their success. Aside from english, Students can choose to learn in Spanish or Mandarin… or both! We love this school!Parent Review1mo ago - Odom Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDedication to excellence and developing every aspect of the whole child not just academics is clear at Odom. The office staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. You get a sense of belonging like a family; genuine care and concern for all students. The teachers have a way to include every student and diversify their teaching to accommodate all the different learning styles that make up their classes. The score of “4” is not reflective of all the great and positive things this school is doing and accomplishing. Your kid will feel welcome, comfortable and at ease to learn. Staff ensure the child’s needs are met beyond academics; honing in on their emotional and mental health as well.Parent Review3y ago - Pleasant Hill Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBefore registering my child for kindergarten, I did my research and we chose this school based on the ratings and experiences of other parents and children that attended/attend St. Elmo. In the three years that my child has been at St. Elmo, I have not been disappointed! All of the staff is very amicable and helpful but, most importantly, they really work hard for our kids to reach their full potential.Parent Review5y ago - Austin Montessori Great Northern Campus

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe attended AMS for a duration of 7 years, with 2 children. The youngest children's communities & their children's house communities are really authentic to the montessori method (not montessort-of) & the dedication they have given to the environment is truly admirable. Their greatest struggle & the main reason for our downfall with them is their entire approach to communication. - The staff seem wildly unsupported. While they have incredibly dedicated guides who are passionate about the method, and a kindculture, if there is anything slightly outside the box, there is simply no support & no procedures. Its a wing-it kind of scenario which just seems to add to the crisis.- the communication with parents is lackluster at best. We seemed only to learn about frustrations & 'problems' long after they had been ongoing & were now raging fires instead of mere embers to be tended.- Their solutions (on more than one occasion) to any type of out of the box learning (dyslexia, ADHD or ASD etc.) is to LEAVE THE SCHOOL. They demanded we get an evaluation (very costly by the way) before we were able to return & though the findings were inconclusive (my child understandably was uninterested in performing for a strange adult & it was a complete wast of time & energy, let alone money) they were unwilling/ unable to find a solution to support our son through the brief time. Both of our children seemed to struggle at the same age (6ish) with the same behavior (isolating, unresponsive to adults, uninterested in work & combative with peers) when the transition to elementary happened. With our daughter we received a more understanding approach & a willingness to discuss options and accommodate her needs. We moved communities within the school and while she continued to struggle she did seem to connect with her guide more and move past the issues. We basically gave her time to 'grow out of' the behavior. Once my son presented the same issues (4 years later) the school had an entirely different stance. It was as if he was dangerous (no dangerous behaviors though) & no accommodations were offered, listened to or considered. He was cast out. They could not see the bigger picture for the small moment of difficulty he was having. He was an inconvenience. Different treatment based on different genders.Sadly, I do know that some children receive more grace than others in these instances; especially the staff children. Only attend if you completely 100% fit in a neurotypical box.Parent Review1y ago
