Read what parents are saying about Cordova Elementary SchoolWe have attended Cordova Elementary for a few years. We have seen different administrators come and go. The new principal really affects the Cordova experience from top to bottom. It is a family involved school and you can feel when the administrator wants family involved or not. Another problem is due to changing administration what seems every year, we have noticed the retention of some of the best teachers be a problem. After 1 to 2 years these teachers either transfer schools or no longer work for the system. Thankfully, the teachers we have experienced were devoted and great. If you have a Kindergarten student request MS. Binkley. The BEST Kindergarten teacher! When it comes to learning, I felt the school could have tried different and exciting techniques to help kids that normally have problems with concentration and absorbing large amounts of information all at once. If your child can independently do work and figure things out of his/her own, you would fare well here. I also felt there should have been more special programs for regular kids not just those in CLUE or Optional programming. Lastly, I hate to admit, bullying was a problem that I feel if you are not an involved parent that pushes the addressing of the problem, it would continue unchecked. Sometimes, you were made to feel your child is the problem or should handle it on his/her own to the detriment of his/her overall wellbeing. Instead of being proactive the school is reactive. It is too long of a process to address issues. Your best allies will be the Guidance counselor and the school security cameras. Lastly, this school is a good school, but if you are not an involved present parent, your child may not have a great experience. A lot of the teachers genuinely care about the success of your child. I have not experienced a teacher yet that I felt otherwise. Be Present, Vigilant, and Active.
Posted by a parent on 7/14/2023Hey, I would like to say THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL SHUT IT DOWN!
Posted by a parent on 4/12/2023This school had teachers and staff members that bully the students. I have never experienced grown people picking on small children and other adults allowing it to continue to happen. Yes, some children are annoying, loud and unfocused; but the job of the teachers and staff is to help the student, not bully him. I just hope we can get my grandson away from such a toxic school. My sister has been a teacher for 29 years and is in a great school. Hopefully we can move into her school district. Cordova Elementary is horrible.
Posted by a community member on 10/5/2022My son is disabled. They've allowed him to go missing. They've allowed him to get JUMPED by kids. He had a bully that used to rip his clothes and stole $20 from him. They allow teachers to bully him. They give him bad grades because he can't focus on tests where they play LOUD MUSIC. (Seriously?!) They will mark your kid absent even when they are present because they don't keep track of them. We got audio of a teacher telling him he isn't smart. He's literally probably smarter than all the teachers. He built his own Polaris from scrap parts. This school is not a school, but a glorified daycare.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was great. My daughter attended school there from age 2 to 4 before we moved to California. We were in Silicon Valley at a 10/10 Great School and she was far more ready for kindergarten than other students. She was already reading and doing single digit math at age 3. Lambs and Ivy truly prepared her for kindergarten and beyond.Other Review7y ago - Cadance Academy Preschool

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was recommended by my son's 1st grade teacher when he was overwhelmed by large public school classes. We transferred mid-year and have continued since. Every day is not perfect but teachers communicate and collaborate with me to address his needs. My son has some challenges but they were honest and willing to try to work with him. He is blossoming and making friends within his small class. He knows that his teachers love him, and that he is safe there even when he makes mistakes. Academically, I am happy that the school teaches cursive. They teach mathematics the way I remember learning so I can actually help with homework. Each student has an Ipad to work on applications to enhance learning and that is something my son looks forward to. What is truly priceless is that he asked me if I knew how the story of Joseph in the Bible went. I pretended I could not remember, so he told me. Those moments make me certain of the decision to sacrifice a bit to make sure I can send him here.Parent Review3y ago - First Assembly Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at Facs has been absolutely wonderful. Both my kids and I feel incredibly at home here, and we have developed a deep love and appreciation for all the staff and faculty. I am grateful every day that I chose this school for my children; it provides a strong foundation in Christ rather than a worldly perspective.Parent Review2mo ago - Evangelical Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is, on the whole, a good experience. The campus is beautiful and open, and the school has something for everyone. After school clubs and sports help students to be more well rounded and focus on their interests, while classes in school hammer down fundamentals of their class. However, it does suffer from a few problems, specifically in academics. It can feel at times like athletics are almost a priority, while academics sit on the backburner in most situations. As a middle schooler in honors classes, some classes haven’t been a challenge for me, even some of the honors classes. That isn’t to say that they’ve been easy, and I’ve been able to breeze past every class, but some specific classes don’t feel like they are giving an adequate amount of instruction for the grade level. Some positives are in the academics, such as the rotating schedule, which may be hard to grasp at first. However, it does help to combat feelings of repetition by changing the order of classes every day. The teachers seem to care about their work, and teachers help students that may be lost in the material and/or confused. No one should fail a class unless they are not putting in effort to the class. The headmaster, Braxton Brady, is the best headmaster I could ask for. He continually prioritizes the students wellbeing while still making sure that they are achieving in school. However, the school has continually proven to be run “loosely.” (Mr. Brady excluded) Events and important dates are constantly changing, and it can be hard to know what is happening at school, especially for parents. The school has no problem of serious bullying, and everyone will find at least one friend. There is no problem of physical violence if students act with more than one brain cell, and continued physical violence has not happened whatsoever in school. No teacher will ever turn a blind eye to bullying if they are aware that it is happening. I may have focused on the negatives, but that isn’t to say that the school is in shambles. I would recommend it to anyone whose children might be an average kid. It has plenty of opportunities outside of the base curriculum, and it helps students find and stoke their interests. 4/5Student Review9mo ago - Macon-Hall Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids attended here for 4 years. I was very sad when moved out the area. I tried doing a general choice transfer but they are unfortunately. The teachers were so hands on and communicated everything with me no matter how big or small. Biggest regret is moving out of the area.Parent Review1y ago - Riverwood Elementary School
