Read what parents are saying about Briarcrest Christian SchoolI am an aumna of Briarcrest Christian High School. Briarcrest was founded on principles of white supremacy and segregation and yet still today they have not accomplished the work it takes to leave such a horrific past behind. Any student who does not fit into their homogenous southern, white, heterosexual, cisgendered, masculine model is othered and bullied by faculty and administration. This results in lasting trauma. Their teachers range from the too-few fantastic educators to the too-many apathic, uncompassionate adults who really shouldn't be allowed within 100 feet of minors. While BCS does have some amazing facilities, fancy bricks never provide a proper education nor decent treatment. Please carefully consider if this school is right for you and your child. Your child may live to regret this decision.
Posted by a community member on 11/8/2021The school is awesome I thorughy like the fact that they provide the 2year old preschool his Teacher Mrs. Toni Powell is doing an awesome job with the student ms. Help g them to develop the cognitive, motor and social skills. His principal is very inter-personal individual interacting with the students, parents and grandparents and all stakeholders.
Posted by a parent on 5/1/2015Best private school in the area, but not the most expensive. Christian, strong academics, athletics and fine arts.
Posted by a parent on 8/31/2014This is an average school. The education and environment is above the minimum but does not perform as well as the Collierville schools for middle or high school compared to Collierville The foundation/philosophy is based on Christian principals and they use this to provide structure and discipline of their students much like the politically correct inclusive approach of the Collierville and Shelby County School system (pre-county and city school merger). Hidden tuition, lunch, and after school care fees along with the intentional misrepresentation of their extracurricular expenses such as drama club, band etc. is a direct contrast to the Christian foundation they attempt to portray. If this school s business practices were truly understood, there would be a mass exodus of the business savvy parents who are more concerned for their child s wellbeing than the perception of status that comes with a Briarcrest bumper sticker. Most likely, the Christian moniker is believed by the staff to carry a badge of undisputed character that keeps parents from stirring the pot by asking hard questions about unchristian business practices. Is the value of education worth the tuition? No
Posted by a parent on 12/5/2013Disheartened that a prior student did not find this school to be a place of inclusion and support. My daughter is a junior and transferred in just for High School. She was immediately embraced by her classmates and the faculty. She is active in theater and choir although she did try sports. The football on Friday night reminds me of a small town and every time we attended the student section was packed with spirited teens. Sweet tea is even for sale by boosters. Yes, the band and the school are smaller but every student can be involved in multiple interests while getting an A+ education in a Christian atmosphere.

Use to be a relationship oriented culture. Lots of good parts remain. Hopefully, good change is coming.Other Review4mo ago - Lambs & Ivy School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was recommended by my son's 1st grade teacher when he was overwhelmed by large public school classes. We transferred mid-year and have continued since. Every day is not perfect but teachers communicate and collaborate with me to address his needs. My son has some challenges but they were honest and willing to try to work with him. He is blossoming and making friends within his small class. He knows that his teachers love him, and that he is safe there even when he makes mistakes. Academically, I am happy that the school teaches cursive. They teach mathematics the way I remember learning so I can actually help with homework. Each student has an Ipad to work on applications to enhance learning and that is something my son looks forward to. What is truly priceless is that he asked me if I knew how the story of Joseph in the Bible went. I pretended I could not remember, so he told me. Those moments make me certain of the decision to sacrifice a bit to make sure I can send him here.Parent Review3y ago - First Assembly Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at Facs has been absolutely wonderful. Both my kids and I feel incredibly at home here, and we have developed a deep love and appreciation for all the staff and faculty. I am grateful every day that I chose this school for my children; it provides a strong foundation in Christ rather than a worldly perspective.Parent Review1mo ago - Macon-Hall Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids attended here for 4 years. I was very sad when moved out the area. I tried doing a general choice transfer but they are unfortunately. The teachers were so hands on and communicated everything with me no matter how big or small. Biggest regret is moving out of the area.Parent Review1y ago - Cordova Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have attended Cordova Elementary for a few years. We have seen different administrators come and go. The new principal really affects the Cordova experience from top to bottom. It is a family involved school and you can feel when the administrator wants family involved or not. Another problem is due to changing administration what seems every year, we have noticed the retention of some of the best teachers be a problem. After 1 to 2 years these teachers either transfer schools or no longer work for the system. Thankfully, the teachers we have experienced were devoted and great. If you have a Kindergarten student request MS. Binkley. The BEST Kindergarten teacher! When it comes to learning, I felt the school could have tried different and exciting techniques to help kids that normally have problems with concentration and absorbing large amounts of information all at once. If your child can independently do work and figure things out of his/her own, you would fare well here. I also felt there should have been more special programs for regular kids not just those in CLUE or Optional programming. Lastly, I hate to admit, bullying was a problem that I feel if you are not an involved parent that pushes the addressing of the problem, it would continue unchecked. Sometimes, you were made to feel your child is the problem or should handle it on his/her own to the detriment of his/her overall wellbeing. Instead of being proactive the school is reactive. It is too long of a process to address issues. Your best allies will be the Guidance counselor and the school security cameras. Lastly, this school is a good school, but if you are not an involved present parent, your child may not have a great experience. A lot of the teachers genuinely care about the success of your child. I have not experienced a teacher yet that I felt otherwise. Be Present, Vigilant, and Active.Parent Review9mo ago
