Read what parents are saying about Chapman Elementary SchoolOur son just completed his Kindergarten year, and we have been so impressed with Chapman. He has an IEP, and contrary to the horror stories we have heard, our IEP process was smooth and congenial. Despite the large class sizes, the teachers are patient, good-humored, and creative and the school has been able to attract excellent classroom support teams. The principal is very accessible, and the building itself is well-maintained yet still very classic Portland.
Posted by a parent on 6/16/2015I came here for my second year of Kindergarten in special ed. The teacher was and the paraeducators were great. The teacher was hilarious and she had classroom pets. The learning activities were fun and the school has really good art. The school building looks amazing and vintage, especially the front of the school. I also enjoyed the open houses and arts programs.
Posted by a community member on 1/25/2015I have two sons attending Chapman and they have had a wonderful experience here. The teachers are attentive, involved and sincerely care about the students. My experience with the Principal has been very warm and compassionate, as well. Ms. Brand in the Special Education Department has made an incredible difference in one of my son's learning experience. Great community involvement and parent volunteers. One cannot talk about Chapman without mentioning the Swifts that roost in the chimney every fall, which is just an added little bonus!
Posted by a parent on 10/13/2014It is a wonderful school, where parents and school work together and so many activities, field trips, events going on throughout the school year that help strengthen the community.
Posted by a parent on 10/6/2013Chapman Elementary School Portland, Oregon Just the fact that my grandson couldn't wait to go back to school this fall says volumes about the quality of education at Chapman Elementary School in Portland, Oregon! He was hoping he would be assigned to a 2nd grade class in a portable classroom. He got his wish, which was an added plus! Chapman invites all of the students Grandparents to visit Chapman for Grandparents Day every fall. It is held on Halloween; complete with a fabulous all school and staff Halloween Parade along with a classroom visitation after the parade!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have multiple kids at Beach and have been a parent there for six years. I am grateful every day that my kids go here. They love their school and I believe that’s due to incredible staff and an overall great school community. A new principal started last year who is an excellent leader and clear communicator. My kids have loved every teacher they have had and have had an excellent academic as well as social experience.Parent Review1mo ago - Boise-Eliot Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had some ups and downs at this school, but on balance has had a good experience. There were a few grade levels where one of our students struggled with some bullying, and I was disappointed when my child who was being bullied kept being placed in the same class as the aggressor, but I also recognized that there was a lot of work being done with the aggressive child. Both of our children are strong learners, and this doesn't happen in a vacuum, so I credit the teachers and staff with encouraging our learners while also encouraging the social and emotional development.Parent Review2y ago - Islamic School Of Met

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had our child at Childpeace for 3 years and it has been an amazing experience, from children's house to elementary! The teachers/guides are incredibly skilled at teaching and meet each child where they are. My child is not only doing amazing academic things, but is also practicing leadership, working with others, empathy, emotional intelligence, deep learning, and self-direction. They allow the children within a structure the ability to practice self-direction, time management, autonomy, and deep inquiry. There is an amazing peaceful and productive hum that you can observe when the children are in their classes. It is truly Montessori excellence! Highly recommend Childpeace for 18 months to middle school.Parent Review4mo ago - Class Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kiddo joined class academy right after pandemic. Joining class academy was the best decision we made! Some of our reasons why:1) The school from day 1 inculcates such a wonderful community experience. As an example I learnt my kiddo reads story books to children of younger ages. What a wonderful way to teach reading and experience community!2) Very diverse school- I personally love that they celebrate various festivals from different cultures.3) Experience based learning.4) Volunteering hours- granted sometimes it’s a challenge to dedicate hours, but I have had many enjoyable times meeting other parents during my volunteer time5) Promoting a healthy and open communication between teachers and parents.I have seen an exponential ramp with my child’s learning and social / emotional skills since joining class academy. I’d recommend this school in a heartbeat.Parent Review7mo ago - Cathedral School
